View Full Version : name of this belt? anyone know of a DIY?

i'm having trouble trying to find out the actual name of this belt. i've heard v-belt, accessory belt. can anyone tell me the name of this belt by the official name? also does anyone know of any DIY out there to change them? and also what size belt i need. no ac deletes or anything like that. if it helps i have a AWM engine. thanks guys

That's just the A/C belt

know of any DIY to replace it? i'm guessing its not to hard to do so, but just in case i'm missing something

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest, this would maybe be a 0.5. Loosen the tensioner, and replace the belt.

thanks, seems pretty straight forward, the only thing is i'm trying to buy an ac belt thats the right size for my engine, anyway of finding that out?

Step 1: Go to parts store
Step 2: Ask for AC belt for an '01 A4.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.

On a side note, where did you find that picture? Because it shows a non-turbo 058 block. That's just weird.

I was just looking at pics through the forums and found it. I think it was just suppose to be a general view of the 1.8 engine

It's for sure out of the 97-2000 A4 service manual in the AWM 1.8T section, this same section has pics of the 2.8 V6 mostly for shits and giggles.

Oh wow you're right, both ATW/AEB and AWM use drawings of an NA motor for that section.
