Bought a CPO '10 s4(DSG) with 48k miles on oct 11th. First day I had it, I felt the kick in the transmission and hard shifting in between 1 and 2 and 2 and 1. From everything I have read online about the early B8 S4's it sounds like this is a mechatronic issue. Took it to Jim Ellis Audi Atlanta(where I bought it). They kept it until the 24th, and all they did was change the differential oil and the gear oil. On top of this, they were supposed to fix a chip in the rim(part of the purchase agreement) and this was not done in the 10 days they had the car.
I got the car back on the 24th, they said it was fixed, drove it 3 miles. There it was again. I took it back Monday morning, they couldn't replicate the issue, and now I have the car back.
Anyone have any good recommendations on where I should be taking my car? I told the service guy at JE that if it started to act up again, I will be bringing it back to them and asking for a refund. AOA is already involved.

Its CPO why do you care? Not trying to be rude but you're covered until 100k. If it should go out make sure you point out that you'd complained about since before your standard warranty expired so you won't have to pay the deductible.

Isn't there a TSB regarding this issue?

Damn. I was going to say Jim Ellis.
Have you driven another S4 with DSG? I just ask because I have over 50k on my '12 CPO S4 from Jim Ellis. The flappy paddle gear box can be less than elegant at times.

You sound like you work for Audi... I care because I have "owned" the car for 18 days- and had have actually driven it for 4 full days. Plus, I was simply asking a question- Does any one in ATLANTA have any service recommendations or had any similar issues?
Tumbleweeds- I'm pretty new to this, do you know where I can find the TSB and do I just send it to my service associate?
Chilort- The force is pretty bad from 2 to 1. Sometimes so bad it feels like I am getting hit. Familiar? From what I have heard, they redesigned the circuit board in the Mech Unit in 2011 where it is not affected by the elements. Apparently the heat from the gear oil was causing electrical problems.

Believe me I wasn't trying to be rude, I was simply stating you have a lot of time to get it resolved. Better that than 2k miles left to get them to fix the issue.

it is 100K miles or 6 years of the first delivery date. Which could be within the next few months since it is a 2010.

I cringe when hearing "Jim Ellis" because of this:

Also CPO is not simply 6/100 from in service date. The base warranty runs to 4/50 and then you get an additional 2/50 CPO. In this case it shouldn't matter if miles were at 48K before reaching 4 years. However if someone reaches 50K miles before 4 years, CPO will not run a full 6 years or 100K miles. For example if you get to 50K in 3 years from in-service, you would get an additional 2 years / 50K miles from that point, so the max warranty period would be 5 years in that case.

Sorry for your issues. I was suppose to buy a 2012 s4 from them last week and it ended up being sold to someone else from right under me. Now I know why I didn't get the car, because it sounds like they suck and I'm so glad I don't have to deal with them.... Have IOU googled Audi dealerships in Atlanta or servicing for Audi covered under warranty? I'm sure there are a couple diff ones.

I will say that I have had the car shift so hard that I felt like I got hit but it has happened maybe 2 or 3 times in 2 years and 45000 miles. I know it is condemnation with faint praise, but as far as car dealerships go I think JE is one of the "good guys." Almost pains me to call a car dealer "good."
Have you spoken with Reggie?
As far as the other complaints, (links and whatnot) JE goes through a metric shit ton of CPO cars. Should shit get through? No. Is it bound to happen when you go through a metric shit ton of CPO cars? ... And the person with money wins the car buying game. When has that ever not been the case?

I "get" things getting through. I don't "get" a GM being so full of shit once getting called out on it. Fortunately, I don't live in Atlanta / need to do business with them but IMO JE has demonstrated why car dealers have bad reputations, other people's praise aside.

The funny thing is, JE Has 3 Audi dealerships in the metro area. JE also has just about every brand imaginable. Not to mention their Atlanta location is about to move into a brand new space. And they get away with sh*t like this.
I hate to say it, but one of the affiliate dealerships has a '12 335i with 17k miles on it that I'm going to look at. Like the b8 s4 much better than the BMW, but what's the point of having keeping it if it's going to be in the shop all the time.
I have spoken to Reggie. Can't figure out if he is as full of shit as the sales guy or if he is actually trying to help. He may or may not be the reason my wheels aren't fixed.

335i isnt exactly a more reliable car look up hpfp and wastegate issues. These have a longer warranty on the n54 but not n55 if i remember right

If you're going back to JE on Peachtree Industrial, ask for Garrett to wrench on your car. He's the only one who has touched mine, installed most of the mods in my sig and I've had overall positive experiences with them. Keep all records and ask that detailed notes are kept. They will fix you up eventually and try to keep you as a happy new customer.

I like the Nally dealership in Roswell. I live much closer to Jim Ellis in Marietta but those guys always seem like they're just trying to sell me something I don't need.

GeoJoe- thanks for the recco. I'll ask for him next time. My SC ha been Glenn, who honestly has been the only reason I'm giving them another chance. I'm sure he will take to the suggestion.

Update- AOA has convinced me to take the car back to the dealer. They are FINALLY replacing the mech unit. It's like JE was just trying to stall this fix until AOA got involved.
Appreciate all the heads up around the different service around ATL.
