Does anyone have the gearing for the manual transmission?
Has it changed from 2011(B8) to 2015(B8.5)?

How about the rear end?

TTT...

No one?
I'm feeling my 15 is slower than my 11 was.
Was figuring it may be in the gearing.
Thought I've read the DSG had different gearing, but did the manual also?

A quick google search yielded:

Gear ratios are identical, b8.5's have some sort of sensing ecu programming that doesnt give 100% of the torque all the time or some crap, the ecu "learns your driving style" or something like that, plus the b8.5's I think are mapped a little differently so you dont get the surge feeling of acceleration like the B8's, yes i know the published 0-60 times are the same, blah blah blah

If that's true, I'll definitely be doing the "hard break-in" approach on my new B8.5. I don't want it to learn over the first 1000 miles that I'm a grandpa who shifts below 3k every time.
FWIW, I gave my brand new 2015 the business on the way home from picking it up at the dealer last night, in dynamic mode, and it felt just as quick as my 2012.
The shifter feels a bit tighter and more notchy than the 2012. Maybe that's a change in transmission design, or maybe that's the effect of a brand new shifter versus a 50k mile shifter.

I've told myself to just forget about the B8....it's traded in, there's nothing I can do about that now. I'm just going to accept the B8.5 for what it is and adapt to its idiosyncrasies, and try hard not to compare it to the B8 to mitigate any buyer's remorse.

I'm at 750mi and i think i'll have to start getting on it.
And I agree w/ forgetting about my B8, I even think the steering definitely had more feel, but I didn't want to keep the car and its out of warranty issues that may creep up(ie: clutch).

Same here. As for steering, I'm hoping the Eurocode Alu Kreuz will improve the feel. That electric assist steering is weird....it's so light when the car is sitting still and you correct the wheel, even in dynamic mode. I know that's a minor complaint and doesn't affect driveability per se, but still a weird feeling.

I was in a similar situation - loved my B8 but it was nearing end of warranty. I purchased mine back in 2012 with 21k miles on the clock so while I know I treated it well, the previous owner's treatment was a mystery. I like the S4 so much for my purposes that I wasn't ready to move onto something else. With the B9 on the horizon and a lot of unknowns surrounding its final design specs, not the least of which is the prospect of no 6MT, I felt that buying a 2015 with all the features I wanted was a good move. I'll get used to the steering and will enjoy the car for 3-4 years before I'm ready for something newer and shinier. All of the aftermarket support is in place for B8/B8.5, versus hanging onto my B8 for another year or two until the B9 even comes out, then waiting another ~year until there is a good selection of aftermarket parts available to keep me interested.

Annnyway...just looked at your sig and it appears we have very similarly spec'd S4's. Nicely done! I'm still not 100% sold on Daytona but, like the steering, I'm going to live with it and let it grow on me. Did you go with red or carbon for your SC badges?
