Hi all,
I've read a lot of the threads, and it's pretty tough to figure out what I want. I'd like to upgrade my brakes for the track. Ultimate stopping power is less a concern than brake fade. I'm just bridging a few month gap before my GT3 arrives. I am very very hard on brakes, so I want to make sure when I get to each corner on the track, I know exactly how much braking I have. (Which I think should be everyone's goal [>_<]) Anyway, I'd really like to spend under 2k for parts. Right now, I'm wondering if I can get away with just track brake fluid and Endless pads. All suggestions welcome! It might be helpful for others who are thinking about dabbling in track work, but don't want to commit 10k to a full BBK.

Thanks!

If you go with high quality track pads and Castrol SRF you will be fine... your pads and rotors will get insanely hot and at some point that may be an issue depending on how hard you push and how much you allow them to cool between go's. The bottom line is you have a 4k pound car that can get up to impressive speeds and will eat brakes and tires. The biggest issue with the brakes is cooling so if you arent going to fork over the dough for a BBK or jerry-rig some kind of cooling setup expect to replace pads often... like bring extra sets to the track often.

I hope that's the case. The car is mainly just my DD, and I'll need to save that dough to GT3 parts. I've just really been wanting to try the S4 on the track.

If you are going to be so hard on the brakes I don't see how anything but a BBK will be reliable from reading these forums. At some point brake upgrades short of a BBK just don't cut it when pushing the car to the limits.

Also, just for a few months doesn't make sense to spend the money if you have a GT3 coming. Awesome that you could do this though but seems like you are better off saving for GT3 upgrades and track time as you mention.

I get away with RBF660 and semi-track pads as long as I don't exceed about 125mph. Most tracks I've seen don't have straights that allow for higher speeds. Except Road Atlanta! There my brake setup was insufficient to hold to braking after the back straight away. It was interesting to play with speeds down that stretch and find a very definitive line between brakeing from 125 vs anything over. 135 and I almost didn't make the turn at the end, but 125 and I was fine. If they overheated it would take a whole lap to get back to full strength.

What pads have you had good luck with?

Pics of GT3 when it arrives [emoji16]. How long have you been waiting?
