Hello,

Do any of you have any recommendations for good brakes?!
I'm looking into getting slotted rotors and pads from Adam Rotors, but I wanted to double check with you guys and see if you recommend other brands.
Lets keep in mind that the price range will be for someone on a budget.

thanks!

Cheers!

You don't have to go top dollar but neither should you go lowball. Keep in mind these parts are the only things keeping you from testing the laws of physics concerning objects in motion.
Just a thought.. lol

You really don't need slotted rotors and slotted will wear your pads at a faster rate. If you are on a budget then get the best you can afford, slotted is more expensive but won't improve your braking performance, not worth the added expense. Just buy OEM rotors and Hawk pads, that will do it, if you still want added response then SS lines replacing the stock lines will improve the response.

There's quite a few threads on this very subject. You could always search for an S4 setup from someone selling the calipers. Should be able to score those with rotors and pads for close to $500-$700.

I'm in the process of doing touareg calipers in that price range

I was referring to front and rear.

That Porsche swap is something I have priced out but will wait until latter this winter but just the calipers are running about $500.

I paid $300 shipped for reconditioned calipers [:D]

I'm doing 330mm fronts/300mm rears. Should be getting some s4 rear calipers in the mail soon. Only paid $60 shipped for both.

That is what I plan on doing when I replace my pads and rotors next year

All of you. Your B5 A4 brakes suck. Even B5 S4 brakes suck, just not as badly.

I suggest getting B7 S4 brakes at the very minimum, but you might as well go 17Z/18Z as a full kit is <$1,000.

Adams rotors are expensive for no reason and the owner is an arrogant douche.

Just get Centric/Stoptech 120 series, they're like $42 each. PN # 12033039

^^^idk but he sells rebuild 17z calipers for a solid price. If i had an 01 i would have swapped uprights and gone 17z.

Ill be into my 312mm boxster front/300mm s4 rear set up for right about 1000. that includes all new geomet rotors and all new pads. Also includes powdercoading all 4 calipers and rebuilding the brembos. I dont think that is to bad for a complete break setup.

Upgraded to the TT/A8 upgrade with braided lines like first year into ownership of my car. Still running those. I have ST40s, but am way too lazy on getting them finished to place on (strip and paint).
