I have a B6 04 S4 which originally came with Bose and Nav-D and Sirius - a few years back I replaced the Symphony radio with an RNS-E and added the OEM bluetooth. Later added a USASPEC_PA11_VW6 from Enfig to give me input from iPod. But now Apple has been licensing CarPlay I see Pioneer have firmware updates to make this work, so I'm considering replacing the RNS-E with the 8000 unit.

Questions - before I drop the $$$$$ on this beast, anybody else already done it or can advise what adaptors (if available) would be necessary to match the stock wiring ? I'm guessing I need to keep the Bose but I could switch to using the Panasonic Sirius and Bluetooth - I already have the hockey puck GPS antenna under the front dash from the RNS upgrade. I Googled some of the forums and found folks putting this deck in a few VW and maybe a TT but unsure whether there are fascia plates/mount kits appropriate for my S4 (probably same as A4).

Any pointers gratefully received...hoping the answer is not going to be "no cannot be done"....

It can be done. I've had the 8000NEX in my B7 for two weeks and upgraded firmware on Friday. Install similarities to B6 unknown, but presumably similar. A few things needed, including the Bose amp needing to be replaced. I believe the TT install you referenced indicated that he managed to use the stock Bose amp but my installer said he had problems with it (surprise!) which earned me a new amp & sub. Metra has fit kits for the faceplate (999107B). Also needed an Audi harness (701787), antenna adaptor (Metra 40VW53), and steering wheel + control adaptors (Axxess ASWC1 + ASWC). Small items but they add up. Could not interface with the OEM mic and the Pioneer mic placement we picked—in the headliner enclosure—seems just ok but better than where the TT guy put it (on his signal stalk). Not a cheap job overall but I'm happy so far with the results.

Trickiest remaining bit is determining the solve for the iPhone lightning cable location. No good place for this and we ran the USB cable into the cabin next to the console for now. This results in the phone sitting in the open but I am planning to mill out a solution to make a charging seat that fits into the ashtray insert or in the armrest enclosure. You could run it into the glove-box as well but that seems a pain for daily use.

CarPlay working well so far though determining some outgoing phone connectivity burps that may be due to the iOS 8 upgrade. Working through this.

Thanks for the details - out of interest, what amp and sub did you end up with ? I usually lay the phone on top of the closed ash tray when it's charging anyway but as I don't use the tray for its intended purpose some kind of insert would be a good idea. I have the three spoke steering wheel btw without the controls as I decided it wasn't worth retrofitting what I felt was an uglier wheel for minimal additional function. If voice control is reasonably reliable then I'd be happy to keep it that way. Does the Panasonic have SAT radio built in or add on module ? Is there enough room behind the dash for the mods ?

Here is everything you need. There is ZERO need to replace the bose amp. Installers just dont know what they are doing.

http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_SRWH_AUD2_HILO.html Fixes the audio issues in audi's and the radio wiring harness.
http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_SWCL_PIO.html Ads the ability to keep your steering wheel controls functional. (you dont need but others might)
http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_PNP_PIO0236.html Connects directly to the 8000
http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_AAA_VWAUD2.html Dual antenna adapter
http://enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_RMK8_A4B67.html Best kit out on the market for this car.

http://enfigcarstereo.com/86_9001.html x2 Keys to remove the radio.

To use factory Satellite antenna - This runs the antenna from the rear to the front so you can use the factory antenna.

To use factory GPS antenna - All 2004-2008 have the antenna at the right rear corner of the car by the rear window.

If car has GPS antenna on roof but not behind radio you will also need this extension.

Hi Christian

Thanks so much for the detailed list - a question on the HILO - on your compatibility page it says if RNS-E fitted then use http://enfigcarstereo.com/enfigcarstereo.com/ENFIG_SRWH_AUD3_HILO.html (which gives a 404 not found) - so just to double check, my S4 rolled off the factory with the Symphony radio and I replaced it with the RNS-E (probably using one of your adapters!) - does that change anything on the parts list ?

It looks like there are two sets of adapters at work :

Panasonic 8000 -> PIO0236 <- AUD2-HILO <- Audi legacy cabling

Is that about right ?

I think I would probably go with the Panasonic Sirius connect which I assume has its own antenna..?

Thanks!

The cableling is for the car not the radio so the 2 is needed.

The Sirius tuner has its own antenna but using the factory one gives you better reception.
