There's a story about the dealers in this area that may be worth sharing.
When I bought my RS a little less than two months ago, there were two of them in the DFW area - one at DFW Audi and one at Plano Audi. I saw the one I bought at DFW Audi when initially shopping for a Q5, but called about the Sazuka Gray one that Plano Audi (Autonation) had. The guy at Plano would not even have a realistic conversation about selling the RS saying that they would take $500 off, but no more, end of story. DFW Audi came down to 5% off and made a very aggressive trade offer on the Carrera, so that cinched the deal. I was happy with that since there was no way to get a Prism car (which I instantly fell in love with when I saw it) anywhere in Texas or Oklahoma.
Since then, my wife was going back and forth on the Q5 (compared to the Macan) until DFW Audi called almost two weeks ago to say they could get a white SQ5 that she might like.
Fast forward to Monday when I saw a white SQ5 on Plano Audi's website that was configured exactly like the one mentioned by DFW Audi and exactly what my wife said she wanted. So I called Plano and reached a sales person I previously talked to about Q5s, but the guy would not even talk to me on the phone and said they would only talk if I was there in person. The problem is, their store is 50 miles away and about 1.5 hours drive in traffic. I then emailed the sales manager explaining the other pricing I was quoted, sent pictures of my two trades as well as the trade numbers offered, and expressed an interest in trying to make a deal subject to them being satisfied with my trades. I told him I would bring the trades when we scheduled a closing, and if he did not like them, then he would not be bound to the deal. I've done this before (even with DFW Audi) and its worked out great each time. I got no response!
We closed the deal today at DFW Audi. Fair deal all around. Drove home in the SQ5. Happy salesman sold two nice cars to the same guy in less than two months.
The kicker is that DFW Audi got the SQ5 from Plano Audi in a dealer trade after they cut a deal with me. Plano Audi missed the second opportunity in as many months to sell two rather expensive vehicles simply because they would not talk on the phone or by email.
If you're shopping, you might find it worthwhile to call Maurice at DFW Audi. Stand up guy!
