GIAC Issues.

I was recently at SoCalEuro in SD. Cool. I won a GIAC tune worth $800. Very Cool! I put the gift certificate on the side, as I wasn't sure when I was going to use it. I pulled out said gift certificate the other day and noticed that it said I had until September 2nd (the raffle took place on the 31st) to notify GIAC of my name and VIN. I was obviously, like "oh shit!". I emailed [email protected] on 9/15, attaching a picture of the gift certificate, letting them know what had happened and questioning if it was still valid. I did not hear back from them. I followed up with another email dated 9/18. I still haven't heard back from them. What gives?!!! [confused]

Sorry to hear that :( I think as a consumer the company has an obligation to go out of their way to reach you and make things right. Would totally be a hit to GIACs reputation if they ignore you even longer or refuse to honor the certificate, that's not good business. Giving zero business days to register the certificate is crazy lol.

GIAC is actually in irvine, if u call their phone number (it's on their website) and tell em whats up , i'm sure they'll sort you out,

That was going to be my next step. Kind of weird though that they wouldn't respond through email. I would have preferred it in that manner so there is a record of it.

Word for word it reads:

"Winning VIN and winner's name must be submitted to GIAC before 9/2/14."

So I guess, technically I had 0 business days to notify them as the raffle was Sunday, and Monday (the first) was a holiday.

I would want a response in writing for sure. I don't see why they wouldn't respond to your email.

As said previously, give them a call or email Austin directly. They've had issues in the past with their sales email going through the correct avenues. They will definitely take care of you [up]

I'm sure its fine. They likely just want the VIN and winner registered so the gift certificate cannot be transferred or sold. I wouldn't call this an issue yet. Its not like they've denied your claim to the gift certificate. E-mails get lost in the shuffle sometimes. Not the end of the world. Austin and the whole GIAC team are great guys. No doubt they will work with you and honor the cert. if you were the winner.

Yes, I did win the certificate. Call me old fashioned, but I like things in writing. And yes, occasionally things get lost in the shuffle, especially multiple emails sent on different days to the same email address.
