I wanted to try out the seafoam product but wanted some background on the results. Has any of you 4.2 owners used

the seafoam treatment , if so what outcome does it give u. i.e better gas mileage, smoother idle, or any of the sort.

I did this about a year ago on my non-FSI 4.2...I really couldn't tell any difference. In fact, I hardly had any white smoke come out or anything. I suppose I don't have much carbon build-up and hence it wasn't of much impact.

There's a couple of ways of doing it, but the easiest it just using a funnel and pouring it into the vacuum line and it does the job...but I did the more 'advanced' way, via the brake booster vacuum line. To do this I used (1/4"ID & 5/8"ID) plastic tubes, a reducer and a ball inflating needle.

I basically did exactly what this video shows:

Try this one instead. A few guys on AW have used it with good results. Berryman Products (http://www.berrymanproducts.com/products/maintenance/b-12-chemtool-total-combustion-system-cleaning-kit/)
