I realize for most members on here this is probably a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway. My guess is that many if not most of you probably change your own wheels.

I've never had a separate set of winter wheels/tires for any of my vehicles in the past, always used all-seasons. So right now I'm in the process of buying a new set of wheels and tires for winter use here in Massachusetts but I'm not sure how to go about getting them mounted on my car. I plan on buying some Avant Garde wheels with Pirelli Sottozero's online but where would I have them installed? I won't be doing it myself, i"ll need someone to do it for me. It seems that Townfair tire and other big name shops only install their own stuff. If you know of any shops South or Southwest of Boston or in RI that do this please let me know. I would like to have the wheels with mounted tires delivered directly to the shop so I can just drive in and have them put on.

If you happen to have an opinion of the online wheel and tire retailers you use or prefer please list them as well.

Thanks

I change my own wheels for track duty - we don't have much winter down in Miami.

I do have a set of 4 VMR 708 RS4 style wheels which would make for a great Winter set for A6, S6, A7, S7, or RS7 on the classifieds section. One has a bit of rash and another some little paint chips, snow will surely hide those blemishes. I have them listed for $750 shipped, but will be willing to negotiate.

Good luck with you winter set!

Winter wheesets are not only cheaper than an accident, but they'll keep your summer set in good shape.

Get Your Wheels will get you a good price for AG wheelset/and Sotto tires mounted with proper lugbolts (conical for most aftermarkets vs round heads for stockers) and ship them properly to your door.

Cannot help you with local tire shops but most can do a swap out, just make sure they handle your wheelsets with care, understand the Audi air suspensiom setting if you have one, and use proper torque rather than just air wrenching the bolts on. Pretty easy to do your own with a low profile jack.

I would actually guess the opposite to be true, I would say most people DO change over their own wheels. If you are going through the expense of buying another set do yourself a favor and buy yourself a floor jack and two jack stands. For the cost of having someone else mount them for you one season you could be doing it yourself in about 10 minutes, not to mention all the other benefits of having your own jack. Mounting wheels is about the most basic thing you can do to your car.

If you do decide to do be doing it yourself though please buy an aftermarket jack and don't use the one in the car, really.

I changed mine out after local shop quoted me $150. Are you kidding?!? I used the car jack that was pretty easy to use once I figured it out. I do plan to buy a new jack though as I need to put the other vehicle on stands.
