View Full Version : New HREs are finally here
After a long wait, and a lot of headaches, my new wheels are here and finally on the car. I'll do a proper shoot once I've done a few more minor things to the car, but here are a few iphone pics for now.

Looks fresh
Congratulations !
Nice classic Audi look. What were the headaches that you are speaking of? Currently waiting for my HREs also.
Thanks again guys.
VVG, there were a few issues. I won't get into one of the issues, but they took 7 weeks to make when they told me 3-5 weeks, and when they arrived, they had been built with the wrong center bore. I guess someone at HRE used the old Audi center bore in the programming. Their customer service was sub-par in my opinion. The shop I dealt with (Wheel Enhancement) was great and they really tried to do everything to keep me happy despite HREs shortcomings. Also want to say thank you to Supreme Power for getting me the tires which seemed to be unobtainable.

Those look great.
Did HRE tell you 3-5 weeks or your dealer? Having bought two sets from two different dealers, I've noticed that it seems the lead time estimates are much shorter before the credit card gets swiped for the deposit. [;)] always take longer then dealer estimate. Worth waiting for, I think.
They have done plenty of C7 S6 wheels. Wonder how that happened....?

Sitting just right.
Looks fantastic !
Good choice ... matches the black-chrome theme very well
Thanks again guys.
Dennis, the dealer told me that after speaking to HRE. And 1.5 weeks after saying the wheels would be ready in 1.5 weeks, they (HRE) said 2 more weeks. I don't know how they screwed it up but I'm glad they at least machined the center bore too small so they were able to enlarge it. Had they made it too big, they would have had to make new centers.

Those are a great choice for your car. They work really well with the colors too.

Looks great Ara. The S6 just eats up the 21"s.
Thanks guys.

Agreed. I was a little afraid that 21" would look a bit too big, but I think they're just right.

Pretty much everyone I know, and my own past experience, pegs the realistic timeline at 6 weeks. I have ordered from Wheels Boutique and they keep sending me periodic updates by email, without me asking. I had a positive experience with them for my last set of HREs so I gave them my business again. Availability of tires is a different matter.
Thanks again everyone.

I agree, had they told me 6 weeks, it would have been no problem. Whatever, I guess it's all said and done now. Just sucks that these guys can get away with treating customers like this. Are you getting 21s?
looks very nice.... but I agree with HRE not being perfect and their customer service can be subpar. everyone thinks they're so great and the best, but several years ago, ive had 1 brand new 3 piece HRE wheel leak on me and blew the tire as the result of low pressure from the air leaking out of the seal. they obviously didn't seal it correctly and didn't reimburse me for the brand new tire that blew. they said to send the wheel back (which they wouldn't cover shipping to them) and they'll reseal it. I was pretty upset at the loss of the tire as well as the wheel probably being out of commission for another 1-2 weeks, luckily the shop I frequent knows their stuff and offered to reseal it for me and within 24 hours I had the wheel back on versus dealing with HRE's bull$hit. ive had 2 sets of HRE's and they do look nice, etc. but, my past experiences with them made me not put their wheels again on my newer p car and audi.

20" with 265/35/20 tires. I want to preserve the ride and I live in the Northeast where 21s are much more likely to get damaged with the roads we have here.

There are always going to be issues, even with the best in the business. Quite honestly, I would never buy a multi-piece wheel from anyone except for a show car that gets very little mileage. A two-piece wheel is a little better as the rim is one solid unit, but when you think about how fast your wheel is continuously spinning, the thought of some type of sealant in there just seems like an inherent weak point. Forged monoblock is really the way to go. The multi-piece designs definitely look good though !!
