Chain rattle

Anyone else get the dreaded chain rattle for a few seconds on cold start? It seems to have gotten worse since changing to from Castrol 5w-40 Mobil1 0w-40. Is this normal for the C7 or should I take it to the dealer and demand they fix it? My C6 had it as well but not nearly as bad.

Yep! I posted about it a week or two ago...

When I had mine in the shop, they said it was 100% normal, and even happens on brand new cars. I was about to call BS on them, but the A8 loaner I had with 200 miles on it did it too (3.0T model)... So I guess it's normal?!?

I have never heard the chain rattle on my 3.0T. My B6 S4 on the other hand, well that's another story all together...

I'm surprised to hear about this issue on the new engines. Thought that was a thing of the past!

Change back. 5w-40 is a smidge thicker so that may account for it.

My S6 is quiet. 11k miles
