View Full Version : Anyone selling an RS4?

Beginning to just start the search for my next car. Time line is anywhere from now till next spring, so I'm not too much in a rush.

Looking for an RS4 with no more than 60k miles on it. All records, window sticker, no paint/body work, recent carbon cleaning done and brakes replaced. Light mods are appreciated, like piggie pipes/exhaust, euro steering wheel, updated rnse. Don't want a heavily modded car.

Has to have a black interior, I'm open on exterior color with the exception of yellow...

Willing to pay a realistic price, ie, what they're going for as listed on the main autotrader etc sites.

Place I bought mine from had one with 53k, black/black/carbon fiber.

It was selling on consignment, I found the owner on here, he said he was gonna trade it for an S5 if it didn't sell. Was up there the other day and it wasn't on the lot, so maybe he traded it to Cutrubus Audi in Layton, Utah.

*Edit*

Just checked Cutrubus (Layton, UT) and Strong Audi (Salt Lake City, UT) websites neither dealers have it listed in their pre-owned inventory.

Just a few pointers to maybe help you find a car to your spec: Carbon cleans are only around $800 (Berg did a great job at 40k miles) and you can upgrade the rotors to StopTech Aerorotors and pads to stoptech street performance pads (all for under $2k). The OEM pads have pins that start to show around 40% pad life and they groove the rotors pretty bad, shortening their life. I changed my pads before these pins started showing and my rotors still have about 5k on them (I have about 46k on my original rotors and I'm an aggressive braker). The majority of the RS4's came with the charcoal interior, so the silver interior is pretty rare. But for your specs, be prepared to spend around $40k-$45k. Are you looking for 2007/2008 with silver trim or 2008 with the black optic trim?

I would also recommend swapping the suspension out for something else. I have the rev. B DRC and they are starting to get pretty bad (again). Too bad stasis is out of business.

I'd trade mine for a stage 3 black or nogaro blue b5 S4 plus some cash.

No S4, but I do have stage 3 allroad 6MT...

Docwyte

Appreciate it zach, I don't really care what color the trim is, either option is fine. Think you're about $10k high on your price estimates tho, most of the cars listed with 50-60k miles on them are asking $35kish...

Yeah, I had the Stasis MS on my Stage 3 B5 S4 avant and they were very nice. I have the Stasis alcon brakes on my allroad now and with Stasis going out of business it was a real PITA to get replacement rotors for them.

Yeah, I'm just factoring in the assumption that you want a really, really clean car. Its kind of crazy how these cars depreciated soo much during the recession.

Yeah, for $40-45k I'd probably buy the Misano Red RS4 with 10k (!!) miles on it that's listed here. That's about as new of an RS4 in the land, I'm sure! If he took $40k for it, I'd buy it, $45k is strong money for it...

Yeah, I totally agree. My Daytona is at 47k, only been washed by me, and is in excellent condition. I've had it since new and been serviced by dealer and oil changed every 3.5k (now 7.5K as per OA) and now all service done by Berg. I almost bought a misano, but I can't get this shine with a misano:

But then again, going on a 1200 mile road trip and I do this (bumper has clear bra)
http://s18.postimg.org/5hd4zr1hl/2014_07_31_09_03_34.jpg

Good luck with the search. I absolutely love mine and haven't gotten tired of it in the 7 years I've owned it (which is saying something!) There are only 2 other cars I would upgrade to: a Ferrari 599 and an R8 V10.

P.S. Sorry for pic whoring/ thread jacking!

Also, one thing that you may need to fix is the bottom panel of the doors. They tend to get water underneath and rust, causing a wavy panel (B6 S4's have the panels that stick out)

I do like the more understated colors like dark blue/grey etc. The shine on your car is pretty incredible, but I had to LOL at the tape job on your car. :D

Easy to say when you don't have to deal with it! Minimally that car needed the factory downpipes put back on it to get it to pass here...

doc: yeah i paid less for mine with less miles too... although i would personally pay more for a car that wasn't red :)

mec: Haven't ran it at all.. actually i haven't ran any of my cars. There's something slightly intimidating about it to me for some reason.

The red isn't my favorite color, but it doesn't bother me enough that I'd be willing to to pay more money for a car that's not as nice.

Asking prices on these are way outta bounds, people think they're worth $40+, then are surprised when they don't sell. The ones I see that are actually selling are asking under $35k and accepting a bit less than that...

Ali

local dealer has one listed on manheim inter dealer network for $29.9k but it has 78k on it. looks like they paid 28k plus fees a few weeks back for it so they may go for break even since it has not moved.

yup, thats the one. I would do one hell of a PPI on it as its bounced around a couple dealers but if it checks out could be a nice car.

It's been for sale for a long time. ADI has had it several months now. The non OEM wheels missing the center caps are a big warning light to me...

Yeah, I caught that and knowing you figured it would be an issue. Could be winters they traded it in with. If it was me I would wait till a private one showed up as I like to get a feel for the previous owner when possible especially on a car like this.

Not a lot of these on the network, only 7 across the whole coutnry:

I'd prefer a private party car, that way I can get all the service records, know for sure the carbon cleaning has been done and maybe get a car with some nice mild mods.

I'm interested in the red one here with 10k miles on it, but only if he accepts at least 10% less than his asking price...

mileage is a little higher than what you're looking for, but this looked fairly clean based on the pictures and it just popped up yesterday

You should come out to once of these test and tune events, I'm trying to get up there this wednesday. $30 entry, you can do as many passes as you can get in from 4:30PM to 8:45PM. Its super fun.

i'll definitely try to when i get it back from the shop.

doc, i'd look at aftermarket warranties if possible. Mine just turned 24k and has an oil leak in the upper oil pan. Not so bad, right? Well unfortunately you have to pull the engine to fix it. oi.

Docwyte
08-15-2014, 08:09 AM
Holy moly! That seems like a freak thing to go wrong with such low mileage. That's a big repair bill too. Nice to see audi hasn't changed the way they put things together so access is easy

bshanna
08-15-2014, 08:40 AM
Yeah i feel the same way. Reminds me of when i picked up my b5 S4 then 4 months later the turbos blew. I'm sure i don't need to go on.

4200??? at roughly $120 an hour thats 35 hours...Does the tech only have one arm? 35 hours for an engine pull, oil pan dismantle and reseal is a bit aggressive.

bshanna
08-15-2014, 01:22 PM
Well to be fair that's the whole price that also includes diagnostics plus every little seal/o-ring/gasket that needs to be replaced when you pull the engine plus my other problem which was a bear to diagnose which was an electrical problem that ended up being the lead from the battery to the engine bay. My junction box was melted (special order from germany of course) as a result of this thing not being bolted down. Once i get a breakdown of cost for everything i'll probably start my own thread.

My warranty is "vehicleone" and i purchased the premium level. i scrutinised it pretty carefully before deciding to go for it. It was basically equivalent to CPO and was around the same price. i should mention i have a $100 deductible too but i'll take it.

Do you know how long your RS4 will be at Berg? Mine is going in Tues for df control arm bushing, fix intake flaps (stuck open), trans oil flush, steering fluid flush... It would be great for her to have a "similar" companion while in the shop.. lol

Sorry to keep thread jacking!

Yea i'm not actually expecting the car back until the end of the month, i had an appointment for the USP then started having problems with the RS so when they were done with the USP i just swapped them and told Berg to work on it whenever they could get to it.

very cool. my boss has an 08 M3 sedan. It feels pretty similar to the RS honestly. i honestly didn't drive it too hard though..

Docwyte
08-16-2014, 08:33 PM
The M3 was a nice car, but oddly missing heated seats and a fold down rear seat.

I'm not sure what's up with that RS4 listing, only way to get ahold of him is via craigslist email and I haven't gotten a response.

Drove a 13 Golf R apr stage 2+ car too, what a hoot!

bshanna
08-17-2014, 12:54 AM
i hear you on the M3 - his doesn't have the tech package so it feels a bit dated. That's the nice thing about the RS is that they pretty much all have the same options here in america anyway - they are all optioned out.

Docwyte
08-17-2014, 09:08 AM
I've actually found a few RS4's that didn't have Nav, which is shocking. But yes, Audi does a much better job equipping the cars vs BMW. BMW is like Porsche, everything is a la carte. If you want folding rear seats on the sedans it's like a $500 option that you have to choose...

Docwyte
