I had a resonated Milltek exhaust put on my 2014 S6 last week. It sounds near perfect.
New vibration heard going over small bumps at slow speed. Having a oil change today. Tech noted exhaust causing some melting of rubber coating of underchasis cross brace on one side where it may intermittantly touch.

Has anyone else seen this or heard the vibrations?

Putting washers on crossbrace to lower it a little, but wondering if Milltek has a solution for this?

Thnx

Awe was the same on mine. I put washers as well.

Same on mine (AWE). I'm going to add some more washers to space out the brace further away from the piping.

I had it on occassion on my AWE until I tightened everything up better making sure there was proper clearance. My issue was the passenger side was drooping and causing the whole thing to not be aligned anymore and hit the cross brace. Ended up putting some additional sheet metal under the clamp to make it a tighter fit on the pipe. Hasn't moved since.

Drove the s6 alot today. The washers alowing a larger gap between the exhaust and the under carriage cross brace bar has stopped all the vibratory noices. Now the exhaust sounds perfect and the car is otherwise quite.

Im not sure why others with AWE or Milltek havent had similar experiences, unless u just left off the cross brace, or ignire the vibrations..

Anyway nice pick up and fix by my local VW/AUDI tuner shop. I went to them for an inbetween audicare oil change(mobil 0W-40).
No charge for the exhaust fix.

I have Milltek non-res on my RS7.

We noticed this before it even came down off the lift. We loosened everything back up and while I held the pipes up as far as they would go my tech cranked everything down tight. There is a gap now that is big enough to avoid any contact between pipes and brace.

IMO there is no problem to fix. You just cant slap them on though, you have to create the gap with a little effort.

My Audi dealer put mine on. Had car two days, charged me $360 after quoting me $240.
Guess they just slapped mine. Oh well, its fine now.

Maybe for some items, an aftermarket independent specially shop is a better choice over the dealer.

My Audi guy installed mine with my help (all I did was hold stuff in place) in under an hour for 1 hour of labor + wholesale price of cat back non-res package. He works on Audi and VW extensively but this was the first RS7 (or any A7 based car) he had touched.

yes, when I had Milltek exhaust installed on my first S6 I had to have this brought back a couple of times to make sure it was fitted properly. I was pretty disappointed that Milltek didn't properly manufacture to fit with the crossbar more easily. The place I had it installed essentially had to create a washer-type device to create space big enough to clear the center crossbar. It worked perfectly afterwards.

Hm. Interesting.

We do include spacers with our installation hardware kits; their installation is specifically called out in Step 5 of the instructions, HERE. (http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/pdf/installation_instructions_awe_S6S7_exhaust_system. pdf) [:)]

The spacers worked fine for me. My problem was the clamps. Apparently I wasnt given a couple of the smaller diameter ones as specified in the instructions so my one side was always drooping because it wasnt tight enough. My solution was to add slices of metal under the clamp so that it made it tighter on the pipe.

My exhaust was interfering with the brace, even with the AWE included spacers. I added a couple 3/8" washers between the AWE spacer and the brace, and the exhaust piping no longer rubs/hits it.

The other recommendation you suggested to me previously was to rotate the downpipes towards the middle of the car for more clearance. However, with everything already lined up to my satisfaction, adding the spacers was easier for me... [;)]

Milltek resonated on mine. No washers, no vibrations no problems.
