Hello friends!
I am a first time Audi owner, from Salt Lake City, Utah.
I have recently purchased a 2005 C6 A6 4.2L Sedan, used with 73000 miles.
I was extremely amazed by the condition of the vehicle, both inside and out.
Although the A6 seems to be running like a champ, I am a bit worried about the conditions under the hood.

Since it is a 9 year old vehicle with 73k miles on it.
Any recommendations on what I should do in maintenance?
p.s. pictures coming soon [:D]

Man, she is a beauty! I love the grill and headlights. Considering swapping mine out myself. Would you mind sharing a pic with the LEDs on? Much appreciated! Looking forward to join you all at the meet soon.

I would start off with a transmission flush...

Things to keep in mind with the 4.2... The AC pump shreds itself when it fails causing metal shaving to go throughout the AC system... It then has to be flushed really good or complete replaced... The power steering hoses seem to go bad and blow up from the heat of the engine, this might be something to replace for ease of mind.

There's also the dreaded timing chain guide problem...

Anyways, what's concerning you??

Thanks for the advice.
I will be sure to look into these things, adding them to my to-do list.

However, here are my concerns.

I hear a loud metal sounding squeak, while having my steering wheel turned all the way to either side.
Seems to only happen when I'm making a sharp turn, or U-turn in a parking lot.
But if I don't flex it all the way to the end when I turn, it will not produce the sound.
I also hear the same noise once in a while, backing out of my garage. My driveway is hilly, I have to apply the brakes and back out slowly.
It kind of sounds like it's coming from my brakes or rotors, I am unsure.

My other concern is,
when the vehicle is accelerating slowly, lightly pressing the gas pedal, I sometimes would hear a real quiet hissing, metal grinding sound.
It's not very loud however, I would have to roll the windows down to be able hear it.
My guess is, this is unnatural??
Have ya heard of, or had these issues before?
Maybe I'll take a video to better explain the noise that I hear.
Thanks again!

*Update
Solved the issue of loud grinding squeak from turning the steering wheel to the end.

There power steering reservoir was pretty much completely dry.
Went to the store and got a can of Pentosin CHF 202, and filled up the reservoir.
And no more noise the next day! Great relieve and a $16 fix! [drive][:D]

And I have done some research on the noise that I hear while accelerating.
It seems to only happen at 2000-2500 rpm, for a split second.
I am guess there may be a loose heat shield, it sounds like it's coming from under the engine.
Would ya recommend taking it into a exhaust shop? or to a independent shop that does Audi/VW's [confused]
