My rep just messaged me and told me that these are now available for order. Looks like we can order and retrofit.

Does anyone ordering a 2015 RS7 here in the states have this as a native option?

so how much will they run - retrofit? When visiting the Neckarsulm production facility (used to live in Heidelberg), they told me Audi eats/subsidized the cost for ceramic kits. A 10k option can easily run, aftermarket, 18-20k. For example, check the crazy azz price for the carbon mirrors: subsidized if you could get them earlier in 2013, but now 4k....hell, the whole carbon kit was 4k....now they want 4k just for the damn mirrors....

I should know tomorrow-ish.

I think it is much cheaper to "check" the option box initially than it is to retrofit. Plus, couldn't you already order the RS6 CCBs from Europe?

Obviously but we did not have that option here in the states. As far as ordering from Europe I am sure there were ways to do this but I want my dealer to do this as officially as possible.

Remember, when you check that option box, Audi no longer has the install the still-pretty-damn-good steel brakes. Whether they're giving you a deal or not (personally, I have my doubts they're eating any part of a carbon-ceramic upgrade) will depend upon the retail cost of the steel brakes vs. the carbon-ceramics.

Just seems odd to me that they release the car in the States without (at least initially) options like DRC and CCB.

I don't get it either especially since the RS5 (correct me if I am wrong) already has them as an option.

If anyone knows why the ceramics were not available on the RS7 right away I would love to hear the explanation.

simple, it's a way for audi to drive new sales a few years after launch by adding new features not previously available. bmw does this too...the newly launched M3/M4 doesn't have LED tail lights which will surely be available in the next couple years. audi may also add the flat bottom wheel to the rs7 as well among other things. it's just business, doesn't necessarily make sense to the buyer.

That's exactly how he told me....touring the porsche factory, I got the same line. Its cost of steel vs cost of carbon.

Saw a previous gen S8 in Stockholm earlier this year with ceramic brakes. My guess is some actuary-type decided the market wasn't here for $10k plus brakes.
