Hi,

Just bought a used 2008 A4, without bose that has no sound from the rear speakers[:(]. I'm thinking it's the rear amplifier. Does anyone know if that's normal or a way to check anything before I try replacing?

Thanks Gents

No, it's not normal. Check the head unit and make sure the fade and balance is set correctly. I know that sounds dumb, but the previous owner might have set it that way. If it's stock, scan it with VAGCOM - any radio/speaker problems will show up in the scan. Possible problems are the head unit, the rear speakers, and/or the amplifier. I thought I had a blown right front speaker, but it turned out to be my stock head unit - I figured that out when I installed my Dynavin unit.

Yes, I wish it were fade or balance, but that is not the case. I did a scan with Vagcom and I'll post it in the right place for comments.

Thanks for your reply.

Most likely the amp. Make sure there is an amp there. Its in the trunk passenger side behind the carpet.

Yes, I verified the amp in the trunk on the passenger side. Googled it's part number and found similar items on the net. My scan was inconclusive (to me at least) as to whether or not that is the culprit or the Head Unit. Monday I'll be taking it into the shop to get it diagnosed, but I was hoping to save some time. Seems to me like the Amplifier is Module 47 in the scan of my TT, but doesn't even show up in the A4 scan[confused]. Perhaps that is a clue, no?

Well the dealer just decided to order a new amp without even testing the old one. I guess we'll see if that's it.
