Hey everyone just wanted to share my single turbo build on my 2000 Audi s4.
A lot of my information is based on other peoples finding and threads so thank you all for that! And a huge huge thank you to my friend who helped me with lots of the work. And also to my machinist friend who made lots of the parts for me.

Before STK. The car was full stage 3+ built. I pulled it all apart because my first gear was making some nasty noises after hard launches at the track. This is what I found.

http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af100/Michael_krus/image1_zpsa0dd0fe8.jpeg (http://s997.photobucket.com/user/Michael_krus/media/image1_zpsa0dd0fe8.jpeg.html)

I pulled everything apart last summer but didn't really get started till maybe February this year. I don't even want to think how many hours i put into this, (let alone how many were done in -20C with a half insulated garage lol) but for the past 2-3 months its been every minute i possibly could, my wife would attest to that.

After a long time of the car sitting there my buddy convinced me to go single turbo.
And here's the journey.

-Precision HP6262 turbo
-H-beam forged rods
-44mm Tial wastegate.
-Tial BOV
-Injector Dynamics 750cc
-HPX blow thru
-Ferrea Exhaust valves.
-Supertech valves.
- Treadstone 666hp intercooler
-2.8 ceramic coated exhaust manis
-2.8 heads
-custom up pipes 2"
-custom down pipe 3.5"
-custom exhaust 3.5" - 3"
-custom intercooler piping
-custom turbo brace

Tuning by DAZ

That's all I can think of for now. Here's some pics of my setup (i apologize for some of the poor quality pictures and the larger gap in timeline of photos. Once i got into working on it i just went hard doing as much as is possible after work every day)

As you can see a valve dropped at some point before I ever owned it. My friend had a spare motor and he gave me the pistons out of it.

Version 2
There was 2 more revisions of the up pipes. I level the turbo more and moved it around because it hit the firewall.

one of the many many times the motor went in and came out. Id say probably well over 20 times. Some days it went in and out 3-4 times a day.

This was the first start up after a long day of problems. First the battery was to dead to crank it more then a couple times, then I wasn't getting any oil pressure at the turbo for the longest time and then my fuel pump wasn't priming the system. Finally a wire was out from my ECU and the car would start and shut off right away.
Anyways it runs

Thank you guys!

Right now I'm trying desperately to work through my tune and get it running half decent.
So far my STFT's are out of wack as far as i can tell.. ~23%

Anyone want to see some carnage??

Here's the story, since summer is so short where i live i figured I'm just going to get someone to help me with the tune. Anyways, after doing some driving for a while now on some same tunes to get my car broken in and all the kinks worked out. I noticed it was having problems holding or even building boost. So after trying a couple options i decided to pull off my turbo and see whats going on.

So sorry to hear. Bet you thanked your friend for making you go single turbo, change it out in minutes

Polakmike

Lol! That's true. I had my turbo out in like 45 mins and that was working on it as soon as I got home so it was still hot!
Pulled out my up pipes already I can see the flex wire inside the pipe already. I wonder if the heat killed it or if the the positioning of the flex caused that or what!!??
I'll take pics off it when I cut the pipe off.

What are other guys using for a flex I don't want to use that kind again if I can avoid it.

Update.
I was gone for most of August and parts of September but basically all i did was pull out all that mesh crap out of my turbo and I'm running it the way it is. I figure when the snow flies in a couple weeks here ill pull it all apart and get the turbo fixed.

Ran at the track last week, it was pretty cold like 0 C (32F) couldn't hook first gear at all.
I tried avoiding the water box, rolling through the water, and launching out of the water box and none of those made a real difference on traction.
My best for the night was 12.6 at 115mph.
My best trap was 119mph.

So after that last track day my flex totally crapped out and was leaking exhaust pre turbo really bad. I decided to pull it out and weld In a new one on Monday so I could race this past Saturday and Monday. It took about 5 hours to pull it all apart weld in a new flex test fit everything and put it back.

Raced Saturday and Monday. My best time was 11.73 at 122mph (against a Porsche GT3) my best trap of the day was a 128mph.

Now my car burns oil pretty bad on start up so I'm going to pull it all apart over winter again.
Also onces each day that I raced my catch Would spit oil out all over my engine. So now to figure out what's going on there.

A couple videos from that day in October at the track.

My buddy In the santorin Audi was trying to brake boost or something and apparently I was taking to long and so he took off.

This was against the Porsche like I mentioned earlier

Update.
I took my turbo to a local turbo shop. The guys said they wouldn't recommend repairing the turbo they said there is to much damage. And there's no percision reps around here. I looked into getting maybe an EFR but I'm not really interested in re-fabricating my up pipe plus they are quite a bit more $$

Anyways I'm back in the market for a turbo.
What do you think. Stick with the 6262 or go 6266 or a different option?

What exhaust housing were you running with the 6262? .64AR? I went to try a 6266 gen2 or a 6466 next.

Loving the build, your car sounds nasty going down the strip! How do you like the car driving around normally? Is is easy to daily drive?

Ya I had the .64 AR. Ya man I saw that gen 2 it looks pretty awesome. Thats actually the one I was looking at till the guys at the turbo shop threw a wrench in my plan.
They were saying they would pick a journal bearing over a ball bearing every time purely for the reason that there rebuildable. One other thing they mentioned is ya you'll build boost a little sooner (not sure how much 250rpm?) but you only have to build that boost once going down the track.

It's a lot of give and take.

Where are you getting full boost now anyways? I think when I looked on my log it was around 4200.

Thanks man I appreciate it!
To be honest I mostly drive it to the track or to mess around on the streets but it's really easy to drive on the street too. If you want to drive slow and smooth it's easy cuz the turbo spoils later and if you want to rip just drop a gear.
I love the sound to but the open wastegate can attract some "unwanted attention". But it's nice to because you can drive it quietly too. My wife drives it to work sometimes to no problems.

In this cold I get 25psi by 4000rpm in 3rd.

Ya that sounds about right. When I say full boost I was doing about 34psi at 4200ish
