S5 nightmare after nightmare, major fuel leak in rear oppossite side of fuel pump.

So like most people on this board, I am a car enthusiast and my S5 will be my favorite yet when it runs perfectly. In the past 3 years Ive had 2 Honda S2000's, C55 AMG, Camaro SS, 370Z and a Golf GTI for a couple weeks. Now when I bought all these cars I did some research on them and was always on a board looking up mods and so forth. However when I made the move to buy an S5 I did research for 3 months before I even decided to sell my last S2000 and start to buy one. I am in the Oilfield so I work mostly up In PA fracking for Natural Gas. I bust my ass working, however sometimes I will work 7-12's with nothing to do but play on a computer. So i did excessive amounts of research on my S5.

So I sold my S2000 two months ago and had 8 weeks to find an S5. I actually found one before i flew back to PA for work and flew up to Washington DC to buy and drive it back. It had horrible body work done on it and needles to say, cost me almost a grand for a one way ticket back when i declined the car. So i was in quite a pickle, trying to buy a pretty rare car, with certain options and colors.

So this time around I actually found an 08 S5 Stasis Series. Yes i know that they are bankrupt, however when I bought one at bare minimum i would put 20's on it, lower it, and exhaust is a must. This car had them all plus it came from Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale. So it wasn't a shady dealership in my eyes, if you guys understand what i mean. So it gets delivered 4 days ago and a headlight is out, the control arm bolt is busted off in it and there is some crazy gas leak. I havent even drove the car, i have started and looked at it. You dont smell any fuel and its not like its running rich. My mechanic who is amazing, literally loves the car and while he had it up in the air he simple green'd the whole underneath of the car. So he filled the car up and drove it around and got on it a bit and gas started spilling out everywhere from the oppossite side of the fuel pump in the rear. Anyone have anything like this happen?

so you bought the car without test driving it? did the dealership mention any of these problems? Sounds like you did the research on the brand and model but not the actual car you bought! am i wrong?

I know this is a long shot but if you have the previous owners name, we may see if the car was ever serviced here.

Yes I did buy it without test driving it which I know is completely a fools move now. I only wanted to buy an S5 and wanted a certain color etc. So I purchased it from a major dealership, Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauferdale. I have drove a couple in STL, MO when home but just never found what I wanted. If te car has a half tank and you drive it my buddy says it rides amazing. He is a good mechanic and went over it with a fine tooth comb. Thats how he noticed the control arm. Then he smelled gas when he drove it, however just didn't know where from. He filled up the ya m and it started pouring out everywhere. He was supposed to pull the tank but he has court matters to attend to all day. He did say the tank had a bolt missing which signifies it's been worked on before most likely. I found a cheap control arm to fix that, he was supposed to check the light to see if it's a bulb or ballast. I was an idiot, I assumed buying a nice car from a big dealership would be fine. It drove good and you don't notice the light during the day. I like to think the gas ordeal happened on transport for peace of mind. I'm flying back out to PA to work for 2 months min real sound I found out. This car has to be fixed by the end of the weekend. He seems really busy, anyone know any mechanics for Audi that work on the side in MO? I feel bad but it's crunch time and I need it all licensed and everything real soon now.

Also if I get a carfax I can swe all previous owners, I've seen it before, I will I guess pay to get one done tomorrow. I appreciate any input or feedback from you guys

did u attempt to contact the dealership? maybe you can get them to pay for the repairs, or return the car and keep looking ( i would choose the latter)

im his buddy that had the car. the leak was the hat in the rear drivers side of the tank, im assuming where the sending unit is, wasn't tight at all . she good to go now, just waiting on a new control arm since the endlink bolt was broke off inside it.
