Quick question for you guys, what PSI do you run on your tires? I have stock peelers and performance tires. Thanks

Very confused as to why you would run this low in the back and still fairly low front unless you are tracking and have other than stock setup.

39 F / 33 R as per the manual for normal load. The door jamb is for full load condition, i.e. 3+ passengers. On the stock 19" Contis (almost time to replace them... can't wait.)

36 cold, all four corners on Michelin PSS. I like the ride and feel better.

First I had 35 psi all around on PSS 19x9.5 and found it bouncy on hi-ways.
Increased to 38psi all around : Much better cornering but found it stiff (on NY roads) and have now switched to Comfort from Dynamic.

41 all around cold. When inflating I usually go up to 43-44 to stay ahead of some air leaking over time (and account for the pressure already being hot).
Anyone who runs less than this is just getting bad gas mileage.

F39, R33 as per manual on my 2013 with Conti DWS. Is very comfortable. I usually also add another PSI to account for HOT tires when inflating.

Exactly this (cold). Running 41 all around with normal load will wear out tires too quickly, with the center of treads wearing out before the rest of the tire.

I'm now going to try 38 for awhile.

I've always run 41 F&R on both summer and winter tires (~37K total, stock ADS suspension, only Michelin branded tires - PS3, PSS and Alpins) and have never experienced the center of the tread wearing prematurely or any other unusual wear. YMMV ...

I know... lol but when I was talking to a service tech he said that's the high end of the spec, most people run lower so I figured I would ask you guys.

Yeah, this is what I changed mine to. I was running 41 (cold) all around, haven't driven enough to determine if I like this better or not.

I guess you are fortunate. I had it happen on my previous A6 and did some research to figure it out. If you google "tire over inflation wear" numerous pictures and articles will come up to demonstrate. Of course if you normally have a car full of people or lots of cargo in the trunk, 41 would be the way to go.

Higher front pressure: The front of the car is carrying more weight so you'll need more front tire pressure...especially when using lower range tire pressures for ride quality

You really shouldn't be THAT confused. I took it right out of the manual for what kind of tires I'm running.

I am one of those people who just followed the directions on the door jamb. I even thought that it was riding a bit rough, but thought that that was just how the car rode. After reading this thread and checking my manual, I set mine @ 39F / 36 R - so much better of a ride! [az]

I should probably check manual as well, however, the sticker in Driver's side door states 41/41 for 255/35/19???

41 is for full load. Different inflation for normal load.

I run 41/41. My thoughts are better gas mileage and tire wear in addition to being what the door jam says.

If overinflated, tires will tend to wear too much in the center tread compared to the outer edges. You want a consistent tire wear patch for best results. That's why the manual has different listed pressure ratings.

I run 41/41. My thoughts are better gas mileage and tire wear in addition to being what the door jam says. Agreed. Especially with street tires
I also note that my E55 AMG has a sticker that recommends higher pressures for driving at high speed.

...not exactly. Load and speeds play a factor.[;)]

Lol, much better! When I had my BBS wheels put on I drove it for less than a day and couldn't figure out wth was wrong with my car. Squirrely, kept wanting to follow ruts in the road, etc. Finally checked the pressure and it was in the 40's because the shop guy inflated them to the door jamb rating or a little higher, I forget. Common mistake I am sure.

I've always wondered why my doorjamb doesn't have the lower pressure in there. Either the manual or the doorjamb is off.
I've been running with lower pressure in the rear for a few weeks, and the car has a nice balance to it. The rear seems to squat and grip a little better when accelerating out of a corner, and then sport diff does its thing. Maybe when the rear has the higher pressure, the car goes into oversteer mode?

+1 on the shop guy overinflating, or so I would call it in this case. Last few times I brought my car in for service, I get it back at 41, which would make sense if I was always with 3 other passengers, but just me, nah, I think 36-38 psi is just right (all seasons, of course)
Gotchaa

I wonder if having suspension mods changes the need to run so low on the rears, read on another thread that the lower pressure in the rear helps with understeer for stock, not sure if that changes with mods...anyone experiment?

If you have a little excess neg camber, wouldn't running higher tire pressure help mitigate inside tire wear?

Does this recommendation apply only to the OEM summer tires or all? I just got a set of PSS and see that OP on this thread are recommending 38psi all around for those tires.

FWIW, I tried 38psi all around and it didn't feel quite right. Changed it to 37F/35R and it felt really good on a canyon drive I just went on so that would be my recommendation.

Anyone know what the dealership sets it at? They did my last setting, one tire is giving a warning and I don't feel like playing a guessing game.
I may just reset everything 38f/36r.

Just set it to the manuals settings for your tires and then store the pressure and be done. The settings are perfect. Don't worry what the dealer does and if they even set it correctly.

I had the dealer tell me to set it to 50psi and then the TPMS wouldn't go off anymore. Needless to say I went to his manager. 39f and 33b is the book setting and that works for me.

What this guy said.
Sometimes they set it to 41psi all around, the recommend pressures for a fully loaded car. I tell them to leave the pressures alone but always check afterward in case they forget...

I went from 41F/41R to 39F/33R and I like it a lot. The car feels much more planted. With that said, shouldn't I expect the front tires to wear differently than the rear? I guess regular rotation should take care of that.
