Hoping for some guidance on how to fully remove the MMI 3G from my 2011. I followed all the guides I could find online and have successfully removed the display surround, climate controls, ac vents, and the 2 screws holding the MMI unit in place. When I try to pull the unit out it does not budge! Are there more screws/tabs somewhere I'm missing? I tried to pry it from the side also with my trim removal tool with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated! I'm removing everything due to a super annoying creaking coming from that area that I have been slowly improving by adding felt tape in various areas. Can't believe the cheap plastic they put in $50k+ cars....

You need two of these keys to unlock it or you will damage something.

There are two small slots an inch and a half below the open and eject buttons.

Ah, I see it, thanks very much! In case you've removed your MMI unit before, did you notice any empty screw holes on the bottom like in the attached photo? Mine were missing screws and perhaps that's what is causing the unit to creak/flex slightly....

Don't remember but the HVAC controls just snap in. I've removed and replaced the entire dashboard on two B8 s4'S and can't imagine why it would creak as it is held in by like 30 screws. What a tedious pain in the ass it is. It's a crazy design not to incorporate a window on the passenger side dash for the airbag. It blows a huge hole in the dash when it deploys which can add over $3000 to the repair bill just from the passenger airbag damage. I believe Audi charges 9+ hours labor to replace the dash.

ya HVAC was a piece of cake. While the dash may be secure, the plastic trim is the culprit for noises. Even the A6 and A7 loaners I've driven had ugly noises when driving over rough surfaces. Adding tape to areas where plastic meet plastic has made an improvement, although it's disappointing that it's necessary.
