I just replaced my rotors at 55k miles.

The new rear rotors, which should be stock from Audi Sandiego, has the vent facing inwards towards the car. The stock ones faced outwards away from the car.

My shop said the in facing vent is not as good as the stock ones. Does anyone know which is correct for the B8 S4 and if what I have is indeed a downgrade from stock?

Are you referring to this?

I know that my car came with the style like the top one, and my 2 sets of Zimmermann replacement rotors are of the same style. However, ECS Tuning now lists the bottom one as the replacement rotors. I also check Centric Parts website, http://www.centricparts.com, it appears that Audi switched to the bottom one in late 2010.

My factory rears had the vent facing the inside against the heat shield (bottom photos). Seemed dumb to me. As your factory rears had the vent to the outside, it appears Audi has two different "stock" rotor configurations.

FWIW, my current StopTech rears have the vent on the outside.
