So there is a TSB for a CB Boot, Rear Shafts that are leaking, I have to to wait to hear back from them. I am wondering a TSB should be honored regardless of warranty and they may or may not fuss about the TD1 being the reason to decline doing that work correct?

Anyone else have a scenario as such that worked out in the end? I personally think TD1 should not be an issue if there is a TSB its a known concern I think it should be addressed?

I kno the Carbon Build up is extended and not as TD1 sensitive but the code has to come up twice a few times guys I have not got it a second time until much later.

Don't you still pay for TSB work if out of warranty? It's not an extended warranty campaign.

Not sure I was told that its like a recall, it still needs to be completed maybe since I am only 1500km past warranty they are considering teh following.

Technical service bulletins describes the problem and steps to fix it, usually for things that they didn't anticipate. Helps reduce their time in troubleshooting the problem.

Recalls involves Audi sending owners a letter.

TSB you have to pay out of pocket for if out of warranty. Some dealers might cover it, but most wont.

TSBs are widely misunderstood in particular in context of the heated TD1 debates. A TSB is simply a step-by-step recipe for a technician to fix a particular issue. As has been said, TSBs are usually written up for unexpected issues. Every product has these kinds of issues. By writing up a TSB, Audi can ensure that these issues are fixed in a repeatable fashion. Nothing else. The fact that there is a TSB is not an admission by Audi that there exists a larger problem. It's simply part of their process. The warranty is there to deal with these unexpected issues for a certain number of years and miles. Again every product has some kind of warranty. If your car gets flagged as TD1 it indicates that you did something to it that violates the terms and conditions of the warranty contract between you and Audi. Now Audi has every right to deny warranty claims, because you violated the contract.

If Audi identifies a wider problem, they launch a campaign. A campaign usually covers one or more model years or a certain batch of cars that are known to have a bad component in them or Audi identified a design flaw. A campaign is launched when Audi decides to voluntarily address a known and wide issue before it becomes a bigger headache. Once the government becomes involved, a campaign escalates to a recall. Campaigns and recalls should be at no cost to you, because they address known and wide issues. Just to bring it full circle, there will be a TSB associated with the campaign that tells the technician how to fix the issue.

In summary, the fact that there is a TSB for something, means nothing. It just means that Audi is improving their process and ensures that issues get fixed in a predictable manner. However, if there is a campaign or a recall, that's a different story.
