Anyone know of a good place to get a window tint in the Dallas area? Don't mind paying a little extra to ensure it's done well. I'm in the uptown area but can drive as needed

Thanks

I would recommend you Pro Tint, they are located at:

1101 Ohio Drive ste 119
Plano, TX 75093
972-607-9022

I would say go for Hüper Optik, it's expensive, but very nice ceramic film and high heat rejection [up]

Cheers

I've used Bonnie and Clyde's... They have been there since like 1978 and Mazin the son that took over for the dad is awesome. Makes you feel as if you've known him all your life and is very fair and just overall great customer service. Tell him I sent you.

Bonnie & Clyde’s CB & Stereo
11311 Harry Hines Blvd
Ste 104
Dallas, TX 75229
North Dallas

Also, closer to you and more expensive is Altamere (sp?) there on Lemmon Ave which is real close. They have been there for ever too. I got an estimate there once and could tell it was top notch. I couldn't afford it ! HA

Alta Mere Dallas
4302 Lemmon Ave, Dallas, TX 75219

Good luck, show us pics

Thanks! I'll check them both out. I know exactly where the one on Lemmon is - I highly recommend the guys at Bonnie and Clyde's. Mazin is "good people".

What do these places charge and what type of tint?. - depends... I know Altamere is gonna be high end as it's expensive as hell. B&C has a few different "grades" to chose from. Ranging from cheap that they recommend against - up to some stuff that is lifetime guarantee.

Gotcha, appreciate the color. I'll definitely go to B&c's this week or next since it's starting to get hot

Anyone know anywhere in TX that does these tints. Just moved from NY and the Texas heat is out of control.

It's the same as the ceramic tint Hüper Optik.

If you are at the DFW area go to Pro tint at Plano, I put the address above.

Two questions....

Regarding the post from Scorpio about ceramic tint on the windshield, wouldn't that be "contraindicated" if you have a HUD?

Regarding DFW tint shops, DFWAC forums shower much love on Tritek. Anybody here use them?

I noticed there's two tritek's... are they both good? It's all about film and the guy applying it right?

I have used David and Tritek in Garland several times

Hey guys I just got tinted from one of the mentioned places.

On the little black triangle windows and the rear windshield the tint doesn't go all the way to the edge. Is that normal? Our glass has black on the edges already and fades away with a weird black bubble pattern and these guy didn't tint it all the way out leaving a gap.

Is that normal or should I go back?

This must be due to the templates they have cut.

It's possible it was done on purpose to avoid covering the black dot matrix area

Or in a rare case they cut the film for a MK6

Mine was cut my hand. I have some flaws in mine and when back and had two windows redone the back being one of them

I'm still not happy 100% and wish I would have just gone to Tritek, but when I showed up David told me he didn't have the templates for the 2015 yet

The only thing dissuading me from Tritek is that he sells Wincos instead of Hüper. Not convinced an infrared dye will hold up over time the way the ceramic will. Also not convinced IR reduction is a better measuring stick than TSER.

Good point. I guess I don't keep my cars long enough to notice how it will age.

Hey guys since we have so many Dallas people in this thread do you mind if I take it off topic for just a sec?

I have created a Facebook page titled "North Texas Volkswagen Audi Group". Please join so we can connect.

So I looked at it again and the tint wasn't cut away from the matrix region but the tint wasn't adhering to it. I took it back and they pressed it back and while not perfect it looks fine. They said this is not something they can change as it's the glass. While there I had them re do one of the windows that had quite a few bubbles. I went with Apollo 2 ply tint with lifetime warranty, 20% back and back windshield and 30% front windows, no tint on front windshield. I'm happy for what I paid for them so far, so let's see how they hold up. Now that the wait is over, can't wait to get a car wash and see how it looks all clean!

Speedshield in Addison does this install. Had it done on my MKVI black/black Jetta and it's been a blessing. Got the clear Photosync tint - crazy stuff!
