Purchasing a 2014 RS5

I am in the works of acquiring a 2014 RS5 from my local dealership. I am moving up from a 2007 B7 A4 which was a impulse buy and ended with something I didn't really want (CVT Automatic) while trying to mod. Now we are diving into a 2014 RS5 and am wondering what types of mods are out for this car.

I already like the Capristo exhaust and looking into some Vossen wheels. Are there any ECU upgrades or any other performance upgrades available? I am looking forward to driving this beauty. [evilsmile]

You should wait and order a 2015 because the 2015 options will be worth it.

^only option additions are red calipers, and some new wheels. I also heard something about a black optics plus pkg

Red painted calipers is why I ordered a 2015 but also because there were no 2014s available with sport seats.

Black optics plus just adds the carbon fiber engine cover.

Im on my second RS5, you wont regret it like the cvt.
By the way, there's always grey calipers.

I can always paint my calipers and pick up a carbon fiber cover couldn't I? Any intake options or what not. I know Carbonio was big with the B7 as it made it better sounding but didn't do anything performance wise.

So they have a black panther metallic without drivers assist but I really think I want that. there's a Suzuka grey metallic out there with drivers assist, should I get that instead?

I personally think Driver's assist packages are a waste, but I've never had it. Those who have had it seem to appreciate it's worth in preventing accidents. In any case, figure out what's more of a deal breaker - colour or assist package......or just spec out a new one with what you want. At least in Canada, the used prices are not much less than new.

The driver assist package is worth it for the dynamic steering option alone. The dynamic steering is probably the most misunderstood feature and it doesn't help that it is in the wrong package. It has much more to do with driving dynamics, than it has with driving assistance. They did it properly on the RS7 now where the feature is part of the dynamic package, along with dynamic ride control and a bunch of other driving dynamics features.

There were some oddities about it before the 48k8 update and most car reviewers also didn't understand it, so it has gotten some very undeserved negative reviews. I can tell you that it makes quite a difference. It works in conjunction with the sport differential and the result is a much more responsive steering with a lot more feedback, that makes it a joy to dart the car into corners. It gets only better if you install the Alu Kreuz.
