I was fixing some broken tabs on my belly pan and removed the front left fender liner to do so when I reached in to install the tab, I noticed this thing bouncing around inside the bumper on the driver's side near the wheel.

Can anyone identify this? Is it a bumper part? It doesn't appear to be broken so not sure where it came from!

it controls the height of where the bumper sits. there is tabs on the bumper that slide into it. should screw right back in, take off bumper and you will see the other one on the actual metal bumper.

it's hard to tell what the size of that part is from the photo, but it looks like it's the plastic screw adjustment part that help the vertical positioning of one side of the bumper. That slot between the head and the washer looking thing is where the bumper would slide into.

If his bumper was reinstalled at some point, it is very easy (if you're not carefull putting it back together) to slide the bumper below that 'washer' part instead of just above it. If you're below it, there's nothing left to really hold the screw in place (from vibration, etc).

Haha, well done AZ!
It is indeed one of the bumper adjusters as seen in the link above. As to how ti came loose? No idea. Weird.
I'm planning to install an S4 bumper in a few weeks anyway so will investigate further when I'm swapping the bumpers.
Thanks for the help!

You can tell we've all been f**king with our bumper heights too much when everyone knows exactly what that is haha

Wouldn't be surprised if previously removed by a dealer to either change a bulb or work on something else and forgot to put it back together.
