Hello all,
Its about that time of the year where I would like to use my sunroof during beautiful summer days.. Unfortunately my sunroof shade cover is jammed. I actually tried really hard pulling it off but it was a b**** to put back forward so I never touched it again. Tried looking for a DIY but im pretty sure I would have to take the whole head inner lining off to even access the sunroof to see what the main problem is... Anyone else have this malfunction? Any input would be nice [:D]
The sunroof itself is pretty easy to remove and it would give you access to see what is happening exactly... But you would have to push back the shade to have access to the sunroof to unmount it.

Any DIY out there you know about ? Can you help me walk through these steps?

For some odd reason why does his sunroof hole look so big? Looks like he removed the whole entire roof. I dont get it lol.

No problem! Remember to do it when its not going to rain though. Don't want to risk getting stock with not sun roof.

Jake found it and it's the one I used to fix the deflector on mine. Took an hour at most and is effing easy... [;)]

I removed my deflector and it took me roughly 30 seconds! I didn't even need to remove the glass. I took a flat head screw driver and popped the deflector out of the rail on each side and slid it out.

Yeah, but I didn't remove it, I fixed it. Had to fetch the sliders from the back of the roof...
Any gain from removing the deflector completely???

Hmm... I removed my headliner to fix my jammed and rattling sunroof assembly... might have done more work than needed.

Not sure, mind didn't leak after a storm we had. How would it cause it to leak? I didn't look at mine really closely after I took it off.

Sunroof is not water tight to begin with. There are drain tubes that funnel the water that makes it into the sunroof assembly.

If yours isn't making noise because it broke leave it alone. The upside to removing it is that its quick and easy and you don't have to take it apart. BUT it does not deflect the air coming in from the sun room while driving. (like that really matters)
Its just a piece of metal that goes across.

I could just literally pull those out as well as the rubber its attached too? or do I need to unscrew something?

The pull straight out. Its only held on by three little tabs on the top.

Mines just started making some noise when I open it and hold the switch for the glass to fully retract. Then the sun shade no longer comes back out when I close it. I have to stick my fingers in and pull it out to close. not sure what happened but been to lazy to really look into it lol.
