So I installed one of those Chinese 7" screen units, and have a 12" Polk sub going in tomorrow. I've seen posts about disconnecting the center channel and stock sub, but why? And how? Does it just mud up the audio?
I'm not sure if I'm going to replace the front stage or not. Once I get the sub in and tune everything correctly I'll be able to tell if I need to. I actually loved the monsoon system in my Passat, but I doubt the unamped symphony front stage will cut it after a time..

Pretty much this. To disconnect the center channel, pop off the plastic around the light sensor, then take out the one screw, lift off the grill (its held in by a couple tabs) and then disconnect the speaker. To disconnect the sub, just either disconnect at the factory amp or at the sub itself.

Nice, got it. Thanks! I was gonna have best buy hook up the sub for me but now that they told me its $100 and not $20 (thought that was way low..) I'm thinking I might just do it myself.

Absolutely do it yourself and save the money, it's pretty easy to do and if you get stuck just post in here and someone will soon be along to help.

Yeah I think I will. I know I'll take my time and do it right whereas they'll jerryrig it all. Thanks man!
