When I step on the gas hard on my car (2013 S6), I note that the rpms go up quite a bit initially but I don't feel the car actually respond with forward movement immediately. Almost like the tranny is slipping a bit before it grabs, but then it does. Is this normal?

I have an appointment for an APR tune, but I am wondering if I should get this checked out before I get the tune.

Any input would be appreciated....

I'd get it checked out prior to the tune, because when you tune it and Audi finds out your TD1 and all power train warranties could be voided.

have you had the TSB update for the transmission done? i would visit the dealership prior to tune.

Yes I have had the TSB for the tranny done at my 5k service. This phenomenon could very well be normal, a designed in delay to protect trans, but I want to make sure before I get the tune. I thought that maybe some others have noticed the same thing

its their ridiculous clutch pack coding.

we have so much power in these cars that just cant be utilized because audi wants to protect the driveline by having the clutches not jerk the whole tranny into movement, so they have the pressure of the clutch applied ever so lightly...im wording this terribly im sure.

but the apr tune i believe, works on the clutch pack application and helps us out a bit.

once your car is up to full operating temperature it is much better at applying the power.

This makes sense and I am becoming more comfortable with the fact that it is probably normal. I suppose a tranny tune by APR would probably address this more directly, but the guy I talked to yesterday at APR said that they are not working on it at this time. GIAC has a DSG tune that goes with their ECU tune, but I don't have a dealer near me, and one guy was reporting some issues with his GIAC package. Don't know if has been resolved as yet

i am getting GIAC ecu and trans flash done in 2 weeks and i still have not found any information about the issue the one guy was reporting, but i wish i could find it. i had my TSB done and to me the car seems good in response when it is warmed up. if i have the trans in the normal D mode there is a very slight delay if i want immediate response. however, i have no issues if its in S mode and the response is quicker in gear change when needed. my feeling is its just normal on the Audi design and something we unfortunately have to live with, unless a problem free flash fixes it.
