So my 3.2 Quattro is burning antifreeze. Took it to the dealer they said it's a cracked block and I need a new motor block which is 13k. Is there any other options out there that could fix this problem? Because vag is saying it's a misfire in cylinder 5 and i changed the spark plugs and injectors.

Is there white smoke when you drive?

i mean you can confirm the antifreeze burning by driving it for a while then seeing if the coolant is disappearing. no real place for it to go unless you see a puddle in your engine bay.

But yea, if you're burning coolant, the culprit is a cracked block or gasket.

other options woudl be to source your own engine rather then purchasing new, wrapping it around a tree and calling geico, quotes from other local indy shops

I never saw a puddle and it was leaking through the coolant flange (mind it was a 2.0T and have no clue with the 3.2 engine or its components). The under body tray did a good job holding a puddle I guess.

Misfires can also happen if you have a massive vacuum leak.

Could be a cracked cylinder head [confused]. Have a shop psi test the coolant system. Also pull the [wrench]spark plugs and see if any are soaked with coolant.

False. losing coolant in a closed system can be from either a crack, a head gasket, orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr the oil cooler. if the oil cooler springs a leak, oil will mx into the coolant and coolant into the oil, but you would certainly notice your tank getting real gnarly with oil deposits.
