RS4/5 grill question....

I posted this in one of the other RS4/5 grill threads, but thought I would start a new thread to see if there were any thoughts on this:

I have to ask people that have already installed their RS4/5 grills. My dealer has an RS5 sitting on its lot and I went down and looked at it and the S5 sitting right next to it. I was expecting the RS5 to have a special mesh behind its grill and was expecting the grill itself to be much more solid and sturdy than the one I purchased from "Smart-motoring" on E-bay....but it's not!! And there is no/zero mesh or protection of any kind behind its grill! The one I purchased on E-bay is one of the best I have seen and looks EXACTLY like the one on the RS5, except that the RS5 was white and the grill is all silver. It is much more flexible than mine....I was very surprised!

Why would Audi allow this on an $80,000 car and not worry about it yet we are all panicked about it? Has anyone else seen the real grill on a RS5? I'm sure most of you have, but I was just really surprised to see no screen of any kind!! It also had the foam over the crash bar and everything seemed to fit just fine.

I dont think many are concerned about the grill itself. The concern is debris going past the grill and damaging the radiator and/or intercooler on some years. Some folks have had to pay for that repair since Audi considers it a road hazard issue and not a defect/warranty problem much like hitting a nail with a tire.

At least thats my understanding.

On the RS4/5's, the grill has a foam support behind the grill from the factory

My question has nothing to do with the grill itself. This is about the fact that everyone is putting some sort of screen behind the grill to protect the radiator while the RS5 does not have any type of screen in place and yet it has the exact same grill we are putting on our S4's.

So the RS5 should be experiencing the same radiator issues S4 owners are having or are at least worrying about?!?! At this point, I may just keep my factory grill and sell my brand new RS4 grill!! Any one looking for a great quality RS4 grill????LOL!!!

Is there any where (besides the factory) to purchase an all black stock/factory grill (as came with the 2014 S4)? I might just do that and eliminate any of the "aftermarket" RS5 grill issues......if there really are any?
