What the title said: http://www.goapr.com/Audi/index.html

I should be picking up my wheels soon[:D], and I should be getting this in another month or so. But is the EMCS and the 100 oct program available yet?

APR, Neuspeed, O.CT, MTM, GIAC, Abt, and Revo are all very reputable companies. Most of them have the software all ready to go with the exception of just a few. Just search around the B6 and B5 forums here and especially in AW as that forum goes back years and years. Any chip upgrade MAY cause some problems but sticking with the above tuners will help. It will also help to have a local tuner that offers good support. One thing you may want to do is call your tuner you choose and ask them hard questions. Ask if they can produce logs of fuel, timing, and exhaust gas temperatures. Ask if they have had revisions on previous software and why. Also call up a few and pretend to be a customer with problems such as a CEL after having the programming installed. See how they treat you. Do they put the blame on you or try and help? Good luck with your search. cheers! Mike

Can't wait to see what numbers GIAC's programing makes, odd how Apr and Neuspeed both have out their chips while Garrett's been relativly hush hush. Maybe their planning for something big.

I don't think Apr's 100 octane is available yet, may have to wait a few more weeks.

Did it take 2 weeks to update?

Engines are mounted differently in the A4 and A3, which is the reason for the difference in power gains.

Ya, I hear that. I ain't that impress by their # on 91 neither, but their 100 oct. seems fairly impressive, but then again, it's not like I'm gonna run 100oct. everyday.... I hope GIAC is going to have some nicer numbers for 91oct.

I've been talking about this for a couple of weeks already. I'm happy that APR is doin big numbers with 100 & decent #'s w/93 oct. But where does that leave us folks that only have access to cat piss. Their 91#'s fall behind those of NS from what I can see. Unless NS's #'s are on 93 as well?? Anyone know?
If only very little gains are seen on 91 then I'd rather wait till turbo upgrades become available . Just my .02

from what i remember from an earlier dyno posted, NS on 91 was giving 257/292. But then again, we all know the variance in dynos. When enough people have the chip we'll see various dynos from different tuners. We'll also see time slips because as we all know, its the area under the curve not the peaks that matter. So who knows, maybe APR could have posted the same numbers as NS but decieded to go for more power throughout. I'm going to be in the market for a new car, i'm waiting til the B7 dust settles before I make a move. I'd rather learn from other people's mistakes than my own.

Remember, the software coming out from the US tuners is still in its early stages. As they get more familiar with these motors and the new mapping, things will only get better. Many versions will be released in the coming years, and things can only improve!

I will gladly take an extra 30HP! [drive]

Everyone keep in mind that the numbers you see are just that... numbers.

I picked a tuner and when I dyno'd my ride the numbers didn't add up to the numbers they posted and I wanted to have the software removed.

However, when I drive the car there is definitely a performance improvement.

Just beware of the numbers as I think you will be hard pressed to see exactly "xx hp/ xx tq" get reproduced on a dyno of your choosing.

I hope to be testing a few different tuner's 2.0T software in the coming weeks. Dyno runs and all.

Good points guys. Since most of your cars are new, it would be a great idea for anyone considering a chip to get a stock baseline run on your car at a shop you plan on using later that way you can see the exact gains on your car and not have to worry about dyno variation. cheers! Mike

Well thats what i plan to do...i learned my mistakes with the B6 and im going to do it right with my B7 im gonna sit back and learn from others at the same time do my own logs and get my base line dyno.

I will be keeping you all informed as the time goes by.

Fernando

This is the best little suggestion that we've seen posted in a while -- so simple, yet I just "mentally overlooked" it as I'm sure many people did. I think we're all just used to taking the factory stock numbers on HP and TQ for granted that it wouldn't dawn on us to get a baseline dyno of our own vehicle. And anyone who's ever been involved in any sort of science / lab work knows that this is absolutely positively what you do first.

We're talking about chips/flashes in this thread, but I'm bumping this b/c I personally think that we should do this with any mod, if the opportunity is there, of course. If we took baselines before our mods and we posted the results for everyone to see, we'd have some really valuable information to work with -- we'd really be able to see the variances, highs, lows and have a well informed expectation of how much HP or TQ we would get with a flash, exhaust, filter, etc. Maybe even it's own forum?
