They haven't developed the switchable tune yet for the B8.5 (it has a different ECU). PM'd Arin a while ago and he said it was in "development plans", I'm not sure of the time table....

A couple questions for you Arin:
1) How much is the sale price if you get the pulley as well as a fully loaded ECU (stage 2)?
2) Will the sale pricing be the same or better at SOWO?
Thanks. Can't wait to get tuned!

Any word on a S-Tronic tune for teh B8.5?

"Honey, I could have bought an M3 for $20k more, but instead I bought this more practical S4... and for only $2k of additional money it can be in M3 territory. So, look at it this way: I'm saving us 18 thousand dollars!"
Whether you like the M3 or not, this logic is rock solid right? hahaha

I used the M3 line to get the S4 in the first place... I think I have a better chance opening up a CC in my name and xfer money to my account.. slowly.... and intercept the bill before SWMBO finds the bill... Marriage so complicates things...

If you mean you already have the pulley, then you just need to buy the tune. You buy "a tune" from APR and they flash the code which matches your mods. So, the price of the tune for stage 1 and 2 is the same. If you do not have a pulley, then you don't want stage 2 without it.

You need APR's pulley to get their stage 2 tune. I wouldn't run a different pulley without pulling out the calipers and verifying the diameter of both is the same.

Yea... BS
Arin@APR

Yea... BS
The structure I've created for pricing is quite simple. It's not exactly "BS."
If an ECU has program switching and we allow you to choose the options a la carte:
- Buy one program and it's $50 off retail.
- Buy all programs / features and it's the same price as the retail price for a single program.
If an ECU has has program switching, and we sell it only as a fully loaded ECU:
- Buy the fully loaded ECU and take $100 or 10% off, whichever is better.
If an ECU does not have program switching:
- Buy a single program and take $100 or 10% off, whichever is better.

Yeah, we require our pulley since the size of the pulley is critical to the upgraded tune.
Wait till Unitronic comes out with their tune and DOESNT pull that shit.
Ok, I'll wait for that.

I assume that at some point the 8.5 will be able to get the other maps - anyway to get a IOU (You owe me) when it comes out and I'll just pay the dealer for the time to flash it?
Looking to go S2 and add TCU at launch, would like the additional maps to go with it.
Thanks

Thanks for trying to help.
My understanding is that if I go S2, I have a choice of 1 map at this time - I get to pick 91, 93, 100, 104...what I want to know is when the time comes that all of these are available through their switching program, will I be able to come back in and get it so I can change between them (also valet)
Im not sure if they consider this an update as they charge to have multiple maps loaded.
Thanks again.

Yep, except during the spring sale. Where you get them all if you have a b8 and do not for a b8.5. Thanks for the response.

I am going to go S2 later this month and getting the fully loaded ECU program for the $50 buck extra. I live in NE, and I think except for Maine, 93 octane is easily available. Don't ever think I am going to track the car so 100 octane is nice to have, but not necessary.
What would everyone recommend for ECU program apps?
......................
Update:
Going in next week to get stage 1 and then stage 2 once the UPS delivers my pulley. Shop said it would take 2-3 hours to (~$100/hr) to install the pulley. Looking forward to fun spring and summer.

It's $130 more for a fully loaded B8 tune for that exact reason (and pretty sure Arin detailed the pricing structure). It seems pretty clear you could later pay the $150 offered during a later sale to upgrade to a fully loaded ECU if/when it becomes available. So you're out $20....

Lots of states don't have 93. I know California, Oklahoma and most of Arkansas do not. I would do stock, 93, 100, and valet if you live in a state with 93.

Fully loaded ECU and free pulley for the price of a single program.
This is serious? The cost of the pulley and stage 2 for a b8.5 does not add up to a free pulley. Is there a 93 tune for the B8.5? Why can't we get fully loaded? I have tried to contact several VW dealers in the chicago area with no response too.
I don't suppose you have any options for those of us with no APR dealer within a 500 mile radius?

We do. You can mail us the ECU.
