I have a 2012 A4 and hate the seats. They are not sport seats but I don't think the sport seats would solve the problem.

I am looking at an S8 or an S600, both around 2008 models.

I need a big car as I am 6 foot 2, my wife is 5 10 and I have one 2 year old and a kid on the way...My A4 isn't big enough.

How comfortable are the S8 seats of the previous gen? I don't have one locally to look at but would appreciate comments on lower back comfort and how it feels on long journeys. My A4 feels like I got kicked in the lower back after a two hour drive.

I assume the benz has cushier seats?

I find my s8 seats to be comfortable as is the rest of the interior. It's plenty big enough as I'm 6'5" and have plenty of space as do my kids/wife

I have a 2004 s500 amg - and the seats are great - but then again I also have an 2003 S8 and I love the recaros - the merc has heated and a/c seats which are amazing

S6 are comfortable in a fitted glove sort of way. If you're looking for cushion, BMW 7 series from that gen is like a lazy boy. Also check out the Merc S classes. However if you're set on an Audi, just remember that the S8 will be insanely unreliable and insanely expensive to fix. But the interior and that exhaust note is like no other.

Though I'm 5'7", the seats in my 2014 S8 are supremely comfortable and perfect for any longer road trip. I'll suggest that leg room has big time influence on seating comfort, so perhaps with your size, you would do very well with an "L" chassis. Then again you'd be loosing 150 plus hp (S8 vs A8 L). Aaaah, maybe just take the Q7 on road trips and go get yourself more power. High class problems we have huh?

I don't agree with the S8 being unreliable...they aren't cheap but certainly as reliable as a performance flagship car can be.

I was talking about the '07-'08 models with the V10. That engine is very unreliable and expensive to fix.

Ok...so do you own one? I happen to own one and don't have any issues with it...of course its going to be more expensive to fix than a V8 or V6...but as far as unreliable, I believe you're spreading misinformation. IF you have first had information please do share as I'm sure the rest of us S8 owners would love to hear/read it.

I have also heard to the contrary.....From my understanding those gen S8s were fine cars, nothing major.

I really like the seats of my 2008 S8. They offer the right mix of comfort and grip....I always realize the quality of the seats and the premium leather when the Audi dealership gives me an A6 loaner with standard seats or leather. I know it's a minor thing, but in also like the heated seats. Have a Mercedes CLK 550 Cab and every 3 minutes the heat goes from high to medium. The Audi seats stay in "sizzle" as long as you dare to.

Selling mine. Black cherry, amaretto interior. Milltek exhaust and B&O. Pretty loaded with many goodies. Came from a Phaeton and wanted a little more oomph..;-). I wanted an S8, since I don't know if I'd have another chance to own a V10 in my life. The Milltek sound still makes me drool.....
