Hey Everyone,
So i purchased my 2013 S4 in auto, and im looking into exhausts. I do a decent amount of highway driving (75mph on cruise) and didnt want anything much louder than stock at around 2000 rpm. but do want it to growl if i punch it. Looking around i figure id probably want to have resonated downpipes if i go that far. Any ideas or inputs from people with exhausts. Thanks.

Milltek Resonated is what you want. You and/or passengers can barely tell its aftermarket unless you really get on it in the higher RPM range

You'll be safe with any of the resonated options. I have the AWE with res. downpipes and it's great.

Awe with res downpipes but milltek is great too.

Either option with Resonated DP's...or you can due the resonated x-pipe mod if you want to carve up your oem exhaust...

what about the apr and stasis.

I have APR and its very much like stock unless you put your foot into it and even then it has the same stock sound just much louder. But if you do have the extra money to spend I would definitely go with Milltek.

I'm leaning towards the miltek also

I have had the borla for about 10k miles and loved it from the minute it went on. It comes alive when getting on the throttle and there is not an ounce of drone on highway at cruising speeds. It will scare woman and small children at WOT. The only little issue is a good bit of rasp when a bit on the colder side but that can be common from one exhaust to the next.

Getting my borla system installed next week. Can not wait.

Awesome! I really don't get all that excited about mods but this exhaust and alu kreuz have rekindled my love for modding.

Enjoy the mean sounds and the quality. Fitment is perfect and very easy to install and adjust (even though the tips are not adjustable).

I didn't mod my last car at all but with this car I really wanted to make it my own, didn't last a week without tinted windows after I picked her up. Was torn exhaust because the systems are pretty expensive but the car is just to quite stock, and I got a killer deal on a borla system so I could not pass it up, originally I was leaning towards AWE though. Looking forward to hearing the borla on my own car.

Not to steal the thread, but nobuttsechs4me I have been torn on doing HR OE springs or doing the AK. Eventually I want both but couldn't decide which first. I have read all there is to read about both products on here....just curious your opinion of the AK..

AK all day! Changes a car with non sport diff drastically. Haven't driven one with sports diff so I dont know how much reactive improvement those guys felt. There are quite a few threads on the AK and I was sort of in reluctant at first because I know how we get on the audizine and thought there was no way that it would change the car that much...it does!

Thanks for the quick reply, I have the sport diff but I am sure it still makes a difference. I may have to seriously consider pulling the trigger on this as well.....Ok back to exhaust talk..

I vote Borla or AWE

Just my $0.02, but my only regret with the borla system is that I didn't have it installed sooner! NO drone, and very stock until you put your foot down on the go pedal. From the guy who installed mine, he said the AWE was definitely louder (res with DCT) than the Borla. For my tastes, the Borla hits all the right marks.

I like the sound of AWE better...but AWE costs 1750.00...whats the cheapest you can get Borla for?...For much lower price, Borla might start to sound better to me.

$1700, but if I am not mistaken the borla comes with the down pipe, where AWE its an extra $700

I got my AWE for $1650 shipped. I was debating on the Borla, also. But then I realized changing the downpipes doesn't do anything performance wise, so there's really no reason to do it, unless you want to change the sound. So, I figured I would get the AWE without downpipes since I knew I liked the sound (heard one in person), and I'll get all of the performance gains (not much) and keep more of my car stock and save a little on the install.

Plus, I like the tips on the AWE much better and I can adjust them. All of the Borla pics I've seen show the tips sticking out a little farther than I would like.

I got my Borla for right at $1,680 shipped on a price match. I like having the downpipes replaced. The sotck units might work just as well, but I'd rather the entire system be installed and designed to work for the optimal tone / flow. Installation was a shade over $200 for the whole thing, versus $175 for your usual cat back. Splitting hairs, but I don't think you go wrong with either one.

Inquired about exhausts today, I always thought that the AWE system was a full system all the way from the front of the car to the rear, didn't realize that it's multiple components? Audi tech recommended Milltek but the Audi Tuning company I deal with said AWE is better quality. Plus I've driven AWE, just hoping I can find a place to get me an AWE res'd system for around 2k

I think it is. I got mine from TAG Motorsports with the black diamond tips. It was $1600 if you opt for polished silver. They had the cheapest price I could find and I had the system within 2 weeks.

I installed my Borla a few weeks ago...couldn't be happier.
Asking opinions on exhaust is like asking which is the best flavor of ice cream.....thank goodness S4 exhaust systems don't come in "31 flavors".

The Borla has a great bark when it is warranted and subdued when not. I have always loved the quality of Borla...I have had a system on my 1989 Merkur Scorpio for over 20 years with zero issues. I also like the fact it's one complete system- all tuned to work great out-of-the-box!
Sure, any of the above systems will do fine, but since you do a decent amount of highway driving, perhaps the "bad boys" of S4 exhausts (AWE/ Milltek) is not what you want.
There is a ton of videos on Youtube you can check out, but in person is always the best.

Paid $2,641 for my AWE res DPs including installation and sales tax............ Am I a bit crazy? Probably. Do I regret it? ABSOLUTELY NO WAY!!!!! AWE FTW. Totally different but more aggressive noise than stock. Its pricey but it sure will put a grin on your face.

I went APR for the exact same reason. I still have to pick up my kids at school and did not want a loud or funky sounding exhaust. I went with APR and I'm extremely happy. It sounds fairly close to stock at idle and low RPM's but when you step on it, the exhaust really comes alive..

Not meaning to jack the thread, but is non-resonated, regardless of brand, really that loud and annoying? I've watched all the YouTube videos, but have never heard these exhaust systems in person. The OP seems to want the resonated sound, but I am at a crossroads with this. I don't want my S4 sounding like a rice racer, but at the same time, want it to be noticeable.
