Hello all
I was driving my a4 v6 Quattro home and when I get home I see some smoke from the hood. When I look under the car I see the bottom of the car covered in oil. Lots of it. There is barely enough to touch the dipstick. I know it's not the oil pan of filter. I am under the understanding that in many cases this can be the oil pressure sender/switch. Before I take it to a mechanic can someone lead me to a DIY to check and replace the sender? I found one but it did not have any pics. I am mechanically inclined but I'm no mechanic I like to know what I am looking at so I don't screw it up. Thanks

It could be between the oil filter housing and the oil cooler.

V6 sender is near the oil filter location. I'd be more suspect of the oil cooler o-ring. They like to fail when it gets real cold outside.

I vote for the plug in the block where you lock the crank. The o-ring in there gets brittle and dumps oil.
