View Full Version : Sport Cloth Seat compatibility?

Hey all,

So a b5 just came into a local wrecker and it has nice dark grey pinstriped sport cloth seats (manual with heated).

The question is whether or not I can swap mine out for them (mine are power with no heated).

From what I've read on here/other forums, some say the rails match up, and some say you have to weld.

NOTE: I do not care about wiring for heated components, I just want to upgrade my badly ripped seats, and they want $100 for front and rear sports.

Any information helps! (minus bashing).

I do not believe they will drop in. Manuals have the center bar with latch which automatic seat cars don't have.

Even if you can't use them in your car, snag them and resell them. You should be able to get $200-300 for the set. I picked up a set from a Pick n Pull for $75 and it was some of the best money I've spent on my car.

Dreams. Crushed. There's a set of tan or light grey auto/heated "sport" seats, but will I run into the same issue on the passenger side since the passenger of mine isn't automatic and the sport one is?

The outer tracks are the same so you would only need the support for the centre rail and then weld this to the cross member that is already there. You are adding on what people with manual cars cut off so it would be a easy swap. You can either cut off the brackets from the car with the new seats or order one from a dealer and weld it on. If you have side air bags and these seats don't then you will need to resister these out. Try looking out for used S4 seats, these will slide right in to your car.

ECS sells the center portion which can be welded in. Go poke around the S4 section for how to's. The RS4 seats are manual so people converting to them must weld in the mounting points too.

Does the cloth heated have the side airbags like my leatherette do? What do you do if they don't have the air bag?

No you gotta wire in resistors.
