Hi guys,
I'm interested in a "stealth" subwoofer box to hide the 10" currently in the cargo area of my Avant. It's currently just a regular box, so cargo space is diminished substantially.
I've found this one on ebay:
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/370786094866
It says it's for a B6, would it also fit a B7? Does anyone know of a local (North American) site that might sell something similar?
Thanks!

B6/B7 parts are 90% interchangeable, more so on the interior than exterior.
That said, that box replaces where some radio electronics might be. You'd have to physically check to see what, if any, you have before buying it and installing.
For what its worth, I simply swapped out the actual subwoofer speaker with an upgraded 6.5" woofer, and that made a world of a difference. Plus, since it was a swap, I kept the stealthy look. Not sure if that works for what you are doing, but for me, the system in the car was powerful enough, just needed some added low end capacity.

Same amp? do you have bose? I would like to get a little more bass as easy as possible without hacking up the system at all...
What speaker did you use and how did you match it to the system?

We bought the car with 10" sub in a box, and an amp mounted to the passenger side rear seatback. In the interest of retaining the rear space utility, I'd like to hide this stuff.
There don't appear to be any electronics in the driver side rear cubby area, but the stock Bose Amp/Subwoofer are still installed on the right side.
The ebay link I posted won't ship to North America unfortunately, so I'm looking for more local options.

The SAT radio module is there in a little plastic drawer thing, and I believe some cars have a CD changer, or a navigation box there as well. Mine just had the SAT module, easy enough to remove it from the plastic drawer and it can fit tucked behind the trim in front of where that subwoofer box will fit.
My summer project is going to be to build a fiberglass box that fits in that same position. I have an MDF box there now, but it's a pretty poorly put together box in all honesty, I just have not had time to replace it with fiberglass. If I can figure out how to make a mold of the box I make, then I might try and put together a couple extra and sell on here as it comes up fairly frequently.

Question is:
What low profile aftermarket sub can be installed and driven by the oem AMP?

Installed one of these. Only needed to make a "spacer" since the mounting ring was about 1/8" wider than the opening for the OEM "sub"*. As stated before, it adds a lot more bass to the existing setup without anything more than the wood spacer. The box was also packed to tune the freq response, but other than that, it works well.
The ONLY downfall to this was that in Audi's infinite wisdom, they directed the port of the OEM box down right at the body vents in the corner behind the bumper. i had to "force" them to stay slightly cracked so they wouldn't vibrate when the bass hit.

* I wouldn't even call whats in there from the factory a "sub woofer". Just a mid-range driver in a large volume box to add "bass".

well I don't have an Avant and with the new NAV system, the amount of bass is such that the panel is vibrating like crazy.
I am planning to relocate it but would like a sub that will plug to the existing harness

I didn't like the idea of using the oem plastic enclosure, so I opted to build one using a mdf and an 8" driver from parts express.
Works pretty well

the speaker i used is linked above the photo of it.
Aside from that and the piece of MDF i used to make the mounting surface for the speaker, everything else is OEM.
This is a stupid question, but what is in boxes on the left and right side of the avants behind those doors? I would love to remove the right box to have a storage space there.

Behind the left door is the satellite radio module, it sits inside a big plastic box though and can be removed and then tucked behind the trim to give you a bunch of room there. Behind the right side door is where your OEM amp, subwoofer etc should all be.

Thanks! I don't use sat radio so i think i am going to remove completely so i can have extra storage space.

I mad a CAD design of the wood "spacer" that allows you to mount it onto the OEM box. Don't have it handy, but i'll post it as soon as I can. It wasnt too difficult, just a little bit of wood work. And it was only used because the mounting flange of the Tang-Band subwoofer is like 1/8" larger than the area the OEM subwoofer sits.

Would I be able to just trim the box instead of the spacer[confused]

I thought about it... i believe you'd end up going through the material of the box since its not terribly thick.
Alternative was to cut into the material a little and cut a bit out of the flange, but that was still a lot more work. The spacer was easy and worked flawlessly.

I know a lot of people here usually go for the custom fiber glass box. So far I had upgraded my symphony II radio to the RNSE.
Aside from that, I replaced all my speakers and added an aftermarket amp for my six inch bazooka. You will think I'm pushing a massive system. Overall, sounds way better than stock and definitely blows the Bose system away.
