I installed my Kenwood DDX470 a few days ago with all the plug n play adapters listed to me in the sticky thread up top. Problem is the dimmer does not work when the lights come on. The screen is very bright and annoying at night.

I wired nothing myself, just followed the video instructions on youtube and plugged everything in. Is the dimmer something I need to wire myself? And yes the dimmer is set to auto in the head unit settings. Thanks.

you can find it behind the headlight switch. is very easy

remove the headlight switch

use your test light/multimeter (set to VDC)

find some ground & then test or measure

turn the switch on, find 12 volts on the switch, then turn it off, if the voltage drop to 0, thats where you need to connect the orange wire from the radio

good luck

Wire it directly to the switch on the other side of the steering wheel? There's nothing running to the head unit on these cars like pretty much everything else?

Not sure what car you have, but I believe that the dimmer function is handled by the CANBUS.
