Okay, so i just bought a set of alzor 349's 18x8 et35, and i need the good stuff to go on them, i have about a 500 budget for them, but i dont know what to get. im leaning towards my pirellis (p zero rosso asimetrico $120 each), but a local dealer can do falken ziex ze329's for 470 mounted with road hazard. i dont want cheap shit, and i like my wet traction, i love my pirellis now because of that, i dont really have to slow up in the rain. What tires should i get, im going for 225/40/r18.

I have continental dw 235/40/18 on my b6 im very happy with it great traction in wet and some in the snow lol they will cost you little more but i think they are worth it.

I had the g-force KDW they are the best summer tires Ive every had. this tire is newer and has very similar ratings but better price.

Spend for Conti DWS - I love them, they last for ever. Don't need snow? Conti DW or Sport contact3s. They are also great, highly recommend them.

That pattern on the Conti's looks like death on even a light snow. I am more included to get the ones that Goodbynaair listed.

If ur budget for tires is 500 for an 18... u are buying shit.

Check out Discount trie and get some Nittos. They are great and not overly expensive. I run the NT05s on my r32 for track days and summer tires.
I also have the hankook ventus evo v12s for summers on my A4 in a 235/40/17 size and those were around 600-650 for a set of 4 I believe.

Good tires can be found for 500 you dont have as many to pick from but there are great tires still

g-Force Sport COMP-2 225/40/18 $448

Ecsta LE Sport (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+LE+Sport&partnum=24YR8ELEXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes) $432
I have the Koumo on my car right now well before my snow tires. Have had them about 2 years and for the price not a bad tire not as good as the other summer tires listed but very close. best bang for you buck I was impressed for the money I spent how well they did.

For all weather G-MAX AS-03 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=G-MAX+AS-03&partnum=24WR8GMAS03XL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes) $476
I have a friend who has these on his B6 S4 and he loves them. I think he knows what hes talking about too Because he races Sport bikes I would think he knows a good tire!

The ExtremeContact DWS (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeContact+DWS&partnum=24YR8ECDWSXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes) are very good tires my room mate has them on his B5 and hes says they are great but you pay the higher price $604

They are the same as the ziex 912 just made exclusively for discount tire, I also have ziex 512 on my b5 16" rims but I don't push them too hard but for everyday tires I like them

I have a set of Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2, and I am very happy with their performance. The only negative feedback I read for these is their tread life, I haven't noticed any tread wear yet, but only had them for a month. I swear they have better grip on wet surfaces.

Don't get any Falken Ziex series tires, they have very poor handling in wet conditions. In snow, don't even think of getting out with these tires and they wear out very fast. I had Ziex 912 in the past.

I would recommend you to get the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum tires. They are very good A/S tires and even better than the Extreme Contact DWS in tread wear.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+LX+Platinum&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=24WR8ELXXL&tab=Sizes

I have also used Hankook A/S performance tires in the past, but compared to all these Kumho stick to the road like nothing else!! Also, they have great traction in rain and snow.

thats good to know, I currently have hankook ventus hrii on my b6 with 17" sport wheels and I love the tires. As for the falkens and snow I have dedicated snow tires for all my cars so I'm not concerned about that, never noticed the wet traction issues with the ziex512s in my b5 however.

I don't like them, they square up while sitting and cause bumps (Both sets did this) BUT, they are a great tire for sure, just like the Conti's better. Also have a set of those sitting around.

I'm on my second set of ZE912s and have been happy with them. No problems with them the couple times I go up to the snow each year and they do well enough in the twistys.

225/40/R18 for $120 each on tire rack.

So I shouldn't have any problems, the most I put in is a heavy shopping load or my mountain bike or 4 people.

Also, what happens if you go over?

Going over is a bad idea. Blow outs and other problems can occur (Poor handling), if you use your car to tow or load it up often don't buy them. The load index states 86 = 1168lbs per tire. That means a total max of 4672lbs - 3100 for the curb weight of the car = 1572lbs of cargo and people. This should not be a problem if, like me, the car is empty most of the time. If you have an Avant or load up alot, go with a 91 rating or higher. (91 is the factory spec for sedans and will give you approx 3000lbs of cargo and people, although Avants may be higher) It sounds like you will be fine, but safety is always first imo.

Tirerack has the DWS for 650 shipped for 91 rated

I use to have the falken 452 tires in 225/40/18 on my Audi and they where crap in any rain, I have had the Nitto Invo tires in the same size and they are a huge inprovement over the Falken tires I had prior, but I will be joining the Conti DW band wagon when my Nitto Invo tires are ready to be changed, just my experiance with tires I dont drive this car in the snow thats the job for my beater, which has hankook optimo h727 in 205/65/15 tires and they work great in rain, snow and dry plus they where less than 100 a tire from discounttiredirect.com but my beater has all of 110 horse power (if i'm lucky 4 cylinder Camry power!!!).
I gave my two cents and shared my experiance but it looks like you have already made a good choice on tires.

I would recommend the

Hankook K110 Ventus V12 for a good budget minded tire it also comes with a road hazard warranty direct from Hankook for the first 20% of treadlife which is a plus

or

Hankook S1 Noble tires are great also for the price

A lot of my clients rock either or of these tires and they have always been happy and no complaints.

I use the Hankook Ventus V4 all season on one of my cars & the Hankook K110 Ventus V12 on all my other cars I personally am very happy with them.

Yep, the Kumho's are really quiet and I love the ride. When I switched from crappy Falken ziex to Kumhos, the difference was almost a day and night. In addition to great dry traction, the performance in snow is really good even though it's an all season tire. I was able to get through all the crazy snow we had here in Indiana with no hassles in my FWD B5..:)
