So in my A6 Quattro, the power outlet/lighter does not depower when the key is removed. Would not be a problem except my wife has an inverter in the car for the kids games/phone charger and she keeps leaving it connected. And well, after I don't know how many times I have had to jump the car because she has left it on, I am officially annoyed. So i am looking to attach a relay in the circuit and connect it to something that is powered by the turn of the ignition.

Anyone gotten annoyed enough by this to have done something similar in the past? If so, where did you pick up? Does not seem too difficult, I have relays laying around..

Might try a different inverter as an option? Maybe one that has a battery save option. In my work truck I had a 1000w inverter that would turn itself off if battery voltage got to a certain point. Although the truck did have an auxiliary battery for that and other things, it was a good indicator of the battery condition. Dunno if that's a feature in the size that you're looking for though.
I personally like the key off/lighter on option. Another option would be to tap a key off/power off circuit but that would be a last resort in my opinion.

Good luck,
Green

Easiest solution. Is to run a separate lighter outlet off the 75x terminal underw the dash. Hide the wires under the console and then plug in the inverter.

The 75x is switched and would require an inline fuse.
