There's not a ton of info on this so I'm wondering what's the actual difference between the allroad 6 speed and the A6 6 speed driveshafts ? Just the hanger bearing ?
I'm not doing anything right now but I want to start ordering some of the things I need. I have the A6 drive shaft I'm using for the swap that I was going to put an allroad bearing from 034motorsport
Any and the only DIY I've seen people were just replacing the bearings with a new one and the one with pictures showed a 18mm bolt
The one I have has this..

Is that just a circlip with a cap or something. I haven't looked at my actual driveshaft too much... it's freakin 10 degrees outside. But if anyone has any info or thoughts on this lmk

Totally forgot I partially asked this question already... I know the only difference is the hanger bearing not the shaft length.
Main question now is how does this come apart?

Well I'm ordering parts today I guess I will just figure it out. Worst case I'm out 100 bucks for the new bearing/bushing

You can't get that shaft apart without a fixture and a big press-o-magiggy thing. I've never been able to get the snap ring out, it's under quite a bit of pressure.

So basically is this driveshaft serviceable ? I know from a few DIY I would basically have to smack this thing apart and it is probably difficult which I know and line up the splines to put it back together?
I mean it's not urgent because I told myself I was starting to do the 6 speed swap until the end of February so I wasn't stuck with driving TT in the snow. But this is a pretty big factor if I have to buy another driveshaft

Do you think I would be able to use some type of spacer with this driveshaft to make up the difference between the allroad and the a6 hanger bearing? I still have the air suspension and I want everything to work properly.

The shaft held together with the bolt is serviceable. This one is not without the proper equipment.

That puts quite a big damper in my plans lol. What are my options ?I know you sell the one piece drive shafts.. I was already planning on eventually ordering the TDi/rs6 axles from you. I was hoping to do the swap with the a6 axles I have and not using the air suspension higher levels until then

I had the same problem, didn't have snap ring but couldn't get the bolt out. Just bought a remanded shaft for around $450 with core return I think. It's really not worth dicking around with.
WholesaleImportParts.com, give it a look.

My stock tip driveshaft is in good shape so I was considering this as an option too

On second thought thanks for that link that seems to be the most cost effective method. Would be stupid to do all this work to put a used 120k driveshaft back in the car to have it fail soon anyway. Looks like I'm just going to close my eyes and order one up...

There was some negative feedback in the B5 forums about this... Might want to check it out.

Thanks Scotty... I was trying to find some reviews. I got that PM from you btw. A single piece carbon shaft is a little out of my range, so im still looking for a good alternative.
I also ditched the idea of that audis4parts "spacer" .. It's a good idea but a bad one at the same time. My luck I'll use it then my stock shaft will fall apart. I really like using OEM or better parts. I just can't find any cost effective alternatives to find a allroad drive shaft. I'm really not trying to be cheap. But I'm also not looking to spend 1000+ on just a driveshaft. This car will most likely be stock if anything maybe get some ko4s with a mild tune so I don't need anything more than OEM parts

If anyone needs this driveshaft for a 6 speed swap in an A6 it's for sale PM Me with an offer. No one will accept this as a core for an allroad
There's nothing wrong with the hanger bearing/ support only that it won't work in an allroad d
