I think you need help if a heat gun isnt working... a heat gun should produce way enough heat to melt that sob off.

I took a chunk off of the glue and it literally kept it's shape under full heat! I had the oven at 280 degrees for 20mins

What year was that headlight made? I think anything after 2012 , the headlights were glued not sealed.

Here is some headlight history:
Most of the B6 Headlights are glued making them almost impossible to open. At that time, Audi worked with Valeo, well known French Manufacturer
When the B7 came out, Audi had purchased a little German company and started to manufacture the B7 headlights under their trade name. These are sealed.
Beginning of 2010, due to internal restructuration, Audi sold the company to focus on production only and not procurement. Guess who bought the company? Yup, Valeo.
Since then, the lenses are sealed. The B7 housing groove where the lense sits is really thin and be prepare to major surgery and certainly damage if you attempt to open

Wait, I'm confused, havent you opened a countless number of B7 headlights? You don't recommend trying to open B7 headlights?

He doesn't recommend it if they are produced after 2010. If the production date is before then they'll open up fine

Until 01/2010, no problem
From 01/2010 to 04/2010, you are gambling. After that, all is glued and not sealed
It's really tough to find sets prior 2010 and I am getting mine from Europe only
BTW, probably the same with halogens but I am not sure since I don't deal with halogens [:D]

Oh wow. I would have assumed all B7 headlights would be mfg prior to 2008 (final B7 MY)?

Here are some pics of the fitted lights at last. Weather has been terrible here in the UK and I don't have a garage to work in.
They are complete with LED turn signal and city lights and 5000k halogen/Xenon main beam.

LED are great really nice color and bright.
No clear cap on them but they look good still. Not sure that the clear cap would have fitted over the LED.
