View Full Version : About to ditch my catch can

After reading up on all the informative PCV threads over time, I am thinking about reverting back to my stock PCV set up. I have a BSH catch can that appears to be worthless - it catches nothing (like a teaspoon of brown water every 5k). All the brown sludgy sht ends up in my intercooler pipes and back into the intake, ultimately. I believe part of the reason may be because of a faulty valve cover (suppose I should check that first) but otherwise I see no reason not to revert back to stock. Ultimate goal would be to route the line to a slash-cut tube in my exhaust but I'm not bold enough for that yet.

Any thoughts?

Just set it up how you would see it on a 1.8T or similar.

Use the turbo side outlet into the catch can, cap everything else. Vent to air or couple feet of tube pointed at the ground or return it to the intake.

The reason not to revert back is because it will fail again. Ohm PCV is bad mmmmk

I also have a BSH catch can. After about 500 miles I collected a little over a quarter can of sludge so I can say mine is working just fine. I empty it every 1-2 weeks considering the frigid weather we're having here recently.

Ok, my valve cover has got to be busted then...I have a feeling I'm losing sludge straight out the rear PCV directly through the VC.

Maybe I will start by rebuilding/refurbing the set up with some AN lines. It was all installed by the PO...
