A few months ago I posted for some help with a loud ticking noise (almost a knock). After replacing used HPFP just to rule that out I decided to remove the valve cover. Low and behold there is a rocker arm for cylinder #2 that is all misaligned and cocked sideways. Not sure how to post a picture. Its definitely hosed and the cam lobe is damaged as well.

So looks like a new intake cam is in my near future.

Whats interesting is this is almost the precise location where I located the noise using a poor man's stethoscope which is a long screwdriver held to your ear while probing around with the other end.

So it took me about 2 hours to get down to where I'm ready to remove the cam girdle. Not that difficult IMO. Some folks recommend removing the head. I'm not sure if that would be easier. Any good tips on how to keep the cam timing? I'm going to attempt this without the cam tool and without removing the timing belt.

I'll post up results and tips after I'm done.

Why not just use the tool. I have it and I'm like 30 mins from you. Piece of mind goes a long way

Mec, If you can loan me the tool I would appreciate it. I'll send you a PM.

mec,
I can't seem to get the PM to work. Can you PM me about borrowing the cam tool?
