Redid front brakes with new Zimmerman's and pads and did a blue fluid flush with a brake bleeder pump deal. Yet, my pedal pushes down pretty far....
How stiff should the pedal be? The brakes work pretty well, but I'm not sure what optimal should be?

I did me brakes this summer. make sure you pump them up well during the flushing until you don't see any changes in brake pressure. Then hit a snow patch or sand to get your abs to kick in. It will get the bubbles out of your system. Warning: make sure you have plenty of brake fluid in the reservoir or you'll have bigger problems to deal with

+1 to hitting a slide to cycle the ABS. Couldn't get mine fully bled this summer even with a power bleeder until I did that. No problems since. It should be a consistent feel, not in and out.

this is how audi is from the factory. the brakes are made kinda spongy if you compare to other care makes, but when u hit it hard they stop on dime. i think its made for luxury. anyway this was already mentioned on the new s4 and probably all models except ones who when with big brake kits.
You can bleed the abs with vagcom instead of locking them up on sand/snow.

why not just save the trouble and manually bleed off each corner?

That won't affect the ABS distribution block.

I think thats my issue.......I think there must be some ait in there despite watching clear fluid turn to blue and using the Bavarian Motorsport Brake Bleeder unit. I even went around the car 2x and flushed. I'll top off with fluid and then try to do the abs deal. Then bleed em again a bit. I gotta think thats the only possible thing left right? No bubbles, new rotors and pads..plenty of meat left on rear pads.
That won't affect the ABS distribution block.

Yeah, try to activate the ABS a few times and then bleed one more time. I would also bleed your clutch slave if you have a manual. They share the same fluid and it may have some effect on your breaks. The slave can be reached fairly easily from under the hood. You'll find it behind the engine and on top of the transmission on the driver's side. It's the same process as the brakes if you use a power bleeder, just make sure the rear of the car is slightly higher than the front due to the design of the clutch system.
