I've been scouring the forum trying to find the same issue as what I'm experiencing and can't seem to find it. Sometimes my key fob works to lock/unlock/open trunk and sometimes it doesn't. Hell I've even locked it with the key fob, forgot something and when I pushed the unlock button not even five minutes later it doesn't work. Seems to be dependant on the cars mood at the moment. The battery is new and the red light comes on when I push the button and I don't think there's a bad connection inside the fob but I'll check that in a minute. Any suggestions guys?

I still would venture a different new battery would do the trick.

That's what I thought and it didn't solve anything.

Do you have another key to see if it does the same thing? That would rule out the key and point it to something else.

Mine does the same thing but if I start the car and turn it off it will work again. Weird stuff

I have the same problem in my B6. Sometimes it works, sometimes not; I put in a fresh battery and cleaned out the insides and it still messes up. It just started a few months ago and will go away like Dirtyylicous said when the car is started and turned off. If there is a solution I'd like to hear it. Good luck!

Well after some time trying to figure this out I pitched a small fit, and slammed my driver door. This was about a week or two ago and it's actually worked ever since..idk what that did but the keyless entry hasn't failed to work once since then.

Mine always seemed to work, but I go through batteries every 6 weeks or so. @ $3.50 per battery I found it a bit ridiculous to be replacing my battery 10 times per year. So I decided to try my spare key, and couldn't get it programmed for the car. So for the last 2 months I've just locked and unlocked the door the old fashion way manually.

Lol probably. This is the most fickle car I have ever owned.

Trouble shoot it by removing the battery and let it sit for a few minutes.
Once you put everything back together, (Also replace your batter with a new one) reprogramm your key.
That happened to me once, so that is what I did. As far as replacing battery frequently, there must be something wrong with your fob.
I haven't replaced my battery for the past year since that happened to me.

I had similar issues then it stopped working all together. Took it to the dealer, they changed the battery which didnt help. Eventually had to recode it to the car and that solved the problem, wasnt cheap tho..

Op try another battery.
I had same issue where it seemed to 'unsync' from my car after it would sit for awhile(this was after I put a new battery in because the one I had was dying).
Well thinking that it's a brand new battery, I tried trouble shooting everything else... I actually planned on going to the dealer next week on my vacation to buy a new key fob and have them program it$$, but decided to buy one more battery and switch it out just to make sure. And what do you know it's been perfect ever since, even unlocks the car from a further distance than it ever has...
Long story short, don't know if the 'new' battery I bought was expired or corrupt but either way it's worth a shot to buy another $5 with the possibility of it fixing the issue vs $300+(guessing) for new key fob
