well I tried fixing the magnets to get my tiptronic to work and after installing everything back, I cannot get the knob button to engage, it acts as if the spring is missing. I dont know why I could have done wrong, any ideas?

It is very tricky to put back on. I am not certain if I still have my old one.
Did you remove the push in knob?

i removed the button, I think I have screwed it all up. I can pull on the actual shift rod to put it into all the gears and I did that to run somewhere and my ETC light comes on, I have been messing with it for hours.

Mod can mark this thread as *Fixed/Solved

Once I took the shifter off the button fell out, so after hours of messing with it I came to conclusion the button needed to be reloaded into the knob, reloaded the spring back stuck the button in and wola.

*Future advice, when pulling off the shift knob in a tip PULL out the button enough to put a zip tie around it so the button does not lose its spring load * and cut once installed back on.
