View Full Version : this could be the end of the A4

07-30-2005, 09:22 AM
last night i was a side road and this weird turn came up last on me, i wasnt speeding or anything, but it was dewy outside and my tires broke loose and started to slide... i slid into the grass and slammed on the brakes, but it was to last, i smashed into a tree. im not happy at all about this, but shit happens. im not sure if the car is going to be totalled or not. when they have a slight body bend or so, they usually total A4, so i think it might be towards that direction. tired starting it up and it stalled, try to move it and it grinds and smokes everywhere, so i havent a clue. ill keep you all posted. this really sucks, i loved my car. :(

have to say I am sorry for your loss, but its good to see you and your buddy are fine. gotta watch out on the corners.

07-30-2005, 12:39 PM
yea corners + fwd = the sucko... even if u are lowered. but i wasnt even pushing the car at all, it just was that road, the angle and the time of night when it was dewy. u learn from mistakes.

07-30-2005, 01:02 PM
if the airbags didnt go off, you may be in luck, thats usually a deciding factor...

07-30-2005, 02:39 PM
hey man, sorry about ur loss, i almost did the same thing... but luckly i caught some traction and recovered.. how did the rims hold up? if ur gonna part things out give me a pm, i love those wheels.

07-30-2005, 02:39 PM
That really sucks man, sorry to hear it. From the looks of it, it will likely be totalled. Hopefully they will let you take your mods off so you can sell them seperately and make some money back.

07-30-2005, 03:15 PM
Definately I write off I think. Sorry to hear about that..I wish my car was written off so I could get something else.

07-30-2005, 03:25 PM
Sorry to hear that man. If your selling your rims let me know.

07-30-2005, 03:26 PM
sorry to hear about that but at least you are not injured. I imagine they will total the car but who knows. If you really want to you could buy it back and fix it yourself?

07-31-2005, 10:21 AM

I'm very shocked. Better make sure they don't cheap it back together.

I had a fender bender a couple years ago. needed new bumper hood, grill, radiator, headlights, and intercooler. only bumped the guy coasting at like 5mph but they went apeshit replacing everything they could. final cost to the insurance company was $10,000. absolutely rediculous for how minor the accident was.

08-03-2005, 03:07 PM
Very sorry to hear about the car.

08-03-2005, 03:10 PM
good luck, hope she's straight

08-03-2005, 03:22 PM
Sorry to hear about the car, but glad to hear you and your friend are alright. cars can be replaced...
I did the same during the last snow storm of the season, but my audi took the beating and i was unharmed. [hail]

08-03-2005, 03:44 PM
To be honest dude, you might be seeing you car from anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 1/2 months. Insurance companies nickel and dime their way through tons of shit! And since audi is one of the most expensive cars to ensure, it might take time. To correct the gentleman from New Jersey, quattro failed me on a left hand turn going 25 - 30 mph BUT IT WAS RAINING, so that's the exception on my hydroplaining gayness for you. Anyways, hope your car comes out great and make sure to keep it covered or have it in a covered area. That sun will ruin your shit son, ruin it!

08-03-2005, 03:47 PM
And to keep the audi guys informed, with labor and parts, my insurance ended up paying close to 10 grand for right suspension, drivetrain, brakes lines, repaired bumper, new right fender, 2 refurbished rims, one new rim, and a few other items . . . . . hah, and when i was driving home, the emergency brake line was rubbing on the drive train so i had to take it back. not only did it take forever (2 1/2 months) but the did a shitty job, I hate STATEFARM, they can go **** themselves for almost killing me with their nickel and dime shit, **** THEM!

08-03-2005, 07:02 PM
this shop is not cheap. all parts are oem from audi. they are painting my valences silver too for me on the bumper. they have been around since 1969 and do amazing work. total cost... just about $7,500. OUCH!

well yea, it will be about 3 weeks, im hoping they find out that my alarm system is broken when they try to get in and think it is crash related... haha

and PDR? why will is ruin it? its just the same factory paint... and i wax it all the time and such.

08-03-2005, 11:22 PM
i crashed my car and it didnt look half as bad as yours!!! insurance paid 9,000 for total damages!!!!

08-03-2005, 11:32 PM
tell them to total it

08-04-2005, 06:02 AM
sorry to hear... but at least you are ok

08-04-2005, 07:58 AM
The tree Ents are out to get you. Whenever I drink and drive, the trees come alive to conspire against my safe passage home. They walk to and fro, sometimes appearing out of nowhere right in front of my car! They are by far one of the most dangerous enemies of a drunk driver. -unknown author.

I had to post this to lighten the mood. Glad you didn't get too eft up. Good luck dealing with the aftermath.

08-04-2005, 08:56 AM
i had a car accident on june 29th with my 2000 FWD M/T a4 someone cut me off and the insurance gave me so far over $4000 my car has been in the body shop since then and as of today, 8/04/05 i still don't have my baby back the body shop screwed me over and the insurance isn't doing much. i'm thinking about filling a claim to the district attorney. sorry about your car and good luck bro

P.S: same thing happened to me i took a corner to fast and my car hydro planed and landed against the curb my front rim didn't look good, broken in half. good thing the axle wasn't hit

08-04-2005, 01:17 PM
I still have the rim that took the beating, kinda as a lil keepsake from how bad things can get without my audi and with a beast of an suv.

As for the paint issue, my body shop was located in torrance and anyone from LA knows that place can get hot. So with the dust, tree residue and no coverage. My car was as rough as sand paper when I got it back last week. So far two coats of wax have made it decent but not to my par.

make a drink table out of it...

i bumped a truck in front of me at 5 mph, bent the bood, condenser, head light broke, grille broke and bumper was reused (car low, truck high), 5.4k estimate, insurance gave me 4.9k, i got it fixed for about 3.2k, while getting S4 xenons and hids and my rear bumper with both valences repainted. I was able to buy my own parts for much cheaper on the net, all OEM too. My damage wall ALL cosmetic, yours is probably much worse.

08-04-2005, 04:34 PM
it was probably the tires... Sorry to hear about your loss
