Looking for bonnet vent options. I have some paint peeling on the hood. So considering some vent option before I get it resprayed.

Interested in either a Shelby Vent or a twin thin ones like the Audi below.
Any idea which car the Audi vents are from?

Yeah I don't think you're gonna get much help around here for this. A large number of us hate vents/scoops.

I've only seen that done once where it looked good and it was on a TT with a AWIC set up.. Generally it just doesn't look good IMO

Not a vent fan, but I have been toying with either doing a window in the hood like the Corvette ZR1 or a bulge like the E90/92 BMW M3.

There's a big vent at the front. Has four rings on it...

Is the vent for looks (however questionable that might be) or do you have a Stage-3+ where you are looking at functional requirements?

I'd love to see the stage 3+ S6...THAT would be the ultimate. That'd be like ten-hundred brake horsepowers and fifftyhundred torques! Instead of hood vents I'd just remove the hood completely.
Hood vents will be crappy. Super crappy. Really crappy. Don't ...I mean. Just don't. Someone asked this in the B6 forum a while back and got 30 pages of retribution, and that was just a B6!!!...consider yourself lucky.

If you have the layout in mind, photoshop is always a good option to get an idea of how things would look.

I have one of those GT500 hood vents in my closet Ive been planning to put on my allroad to help keep IAT's and underhood temperatures lower. Just mocking up the location:

Ill probably take the plunge and cut into my hood in the spring/summer.

Do I think it will look good on every C5? nope. Do I think it will look good on my allroad? Yes, because of the contrasting bumpers/flares/hood and the darker summer wheels I have, I think it will actually look good. Will it be funcitonal? Yes.

I agree that an allroad could putt it off

I have been back and forth on this idea to help with the heat however my worry is about the water when its raining and washing the car. Any clue how to get around that so nothing messes up?

Extractor hoods (like the GT500 has) are functional in a couple of ways:
1. Help to draw cool air across the radiator
2. Create additional downforce

Unfortunately, I don't think anything short of a total custom job would look even remotely harmonious on a C5 (short of the allroad, anyway). I'm talking a nice curved, sheet-metal vent more along the lines of what you see here on the Ferrari 330 P4:

http://worldcarslist.com/images/ferrari/ferrari-330-p4/ferrari-330-p4-11.jpg

Good luck finding the space for that in the engine bay.

It won't really draw cool air across the radiator, as much as remove hot air that just passed thru the radiator, from letting it sit in the engine bay

The gt500 scoop is designed as a heat extractor, abd properly placed it will work well. Based on the aerodynamics of most cars, the grille/bumper area is high pressure, then over the top of the hood it is high velocity/low pressure, before building more pressure at the windshield.
Open your hood with the engine hot and running and you will feel the hot air being pulled from the radiator abd then rising between radiator and the block.

The relatively high pressure in engine bay, plus the low pressure and high velocity over the hood, and the shape of the gt500 vent, a large amount of hot air can be pulled from the bay.

Why not a ducted underbelly pan? Help with underhood temps while not looking like ass.

Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done. However, each to their own.

Gotta love the amount of closed-minded audi owners here.

What makes a car look good is completely subjective; that's why we have such a wide variety of automotive styling across all the years, makes and models.

God forbid, should someone want to do something to to their car that the majority doesn't like. This attitude makes me sick

Why mod the car at all then? Leave it factory.... Lol. It will only be good once one of these "Audi Kings" gives tier blessing.
These are the same people who pays everybody to do the work, but they can tell you everything about the cars after reading off of the sheet their shop have them. And their famous answer is always go by another car with a bigger engine. Lol.
